Former Iona men’s basketball player Adam Njie Jr. admitted that he told a sports bettor that he would intentionally tank the first half of two games during the 2024-25 season.
According to an NCAA ruling released Thursday, the former Iona guard agreed to participate in the point-shaving schemes ahead of two games in December 2024 to help bettors cash on first-half spreads.
Investigators discovered the case after interviewing a source tied to a separate sports wagering probe in July and September 2025. That source told NCAA enforcement officials that one of two bettors had communicated with Njie.
Upon the NCAA’s investigation, the Mississippi Gaming Commission reported that one bettor placed three wagers totaling $15,500 on Rice to cover the first-half spread against Iona on Dec. 1, 2024.
Njie acknowledged telling the bettor before the game that he would “throw” the first half. However, he said that he never followed through with it.
The bettor allegedly wasn’t too understanding.
They physically threatened Njie after losing money on the Rice wager. In response, Njie told the bettor he would throw the first half of Iona’s Dec. 6 game against Sacred Heart to make up for the blow.
Again, Njie told investigators he never intentionally manipulated the game.
The NCAA said that digital evidence confirmed communications between Njie and the bettor, as well as the bettor’s subsequent threats.
Investigators did not substantiate game manipulation itself, but the NCAA noted that Njie’s actions were still deemed a major integrity violation.
Gambling scandals have plagued college basketball in recent seasons. AP
“The act of sharing information with a bettor is prohibited by NCAA legislation and is treated the same as point shaving from an NCAA enforcement perspective,” the NCAA said in a statement.
The violations were classified as Level I — the NCAA’s most serious category.
Njie has been declared permanently ineligible for NCAA competition, while Iona University’s athletics site has taken down his player profile page.
The Bronx native transferred to Dayton ahead of last season but did not play again after the first two preseason games due to “potential eligibility concerns.” He had just signed with Hampton University in Virginia last month.
Both of the bettors involved were indicted in January 2026 by federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on wire fraud and bribery charges related to sports contests.
The pre-wedding festivities may have kicked off for Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift.

Older brother Jason Kelce tagged along, as well as longtime friend Ross Travis and comedian Druski.
The group was in the club for a while before leaving around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

The venue has no events from June 29-July 6, and the couple has reportedly paid about $3 million to take over the Garden for their three-day affair.
It boils down to $1 million per day — the first day to setup, the second for the day of the wedding and the day after to break it all down.
Although Swift has performed eight sold-out shows at the Garden, she and Kelce are getting no discount towards their wedding from the arena despite it argueably being the biggest celebrity wedding ever.

Wherever Steph Curry goes in the San Francisco area, people are sure to follow.
Curry was spotted by a large group of Golden State Warriors fans at a Costco in South San Francisco, near the San Francisco Airport, to promote his new whiskey brand, Gentleman’s Cut Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.
As Curry walked past the mob of Warriors fans awaiting him, he addressed them, saying, “I just wanted to say hi to everybody,” leaving the crowd cheering and chanting his name.

Curry then greeted the lucky fans with handshakes and was seen snapping photos with them.
Gentleman’s Cut was founded by Curry and Napa Valley winemaker John Schwartz in 2023, with the two embarking on a whiskey that is 90-proof bourbon and aged between five and seven years in new charred white-oak barrels.

Curry has been involved in every step of the whiskey process since embarking on his new business venture, including manufacturing, blending and aging.
Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey is the sixth flavor Gentleman’s Cut has created and is distilled by Game Changer Distillery located in Boone County in Independence, Kentucky.
According to Passion Spirits, Curry created his whiskey as a way to commemorate celebrations.
“I’m proud to have helped carefully craft a new signature Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Gentleman’s Cut. This rich, complex, and bold bourbon is the perfect offering to commemorate life’s great occasions, and will be part of a raised-glass toasting moment in the lives of my fans, friends, and family.”
It appears that the whiskey business will be Curry’s calling whenever he decides to call time on his Hall of Fame basketball career in which he’s been hailed as one of the greatest shooters of all time.
Curry is set to enter the final year of his contract after agreeing to a one-year, $62.6 million extension with the Golden State Warriors that would keep him there until after the 2027 NBA season.

If you have been waiting to get your hands on a 2026 MacBook Air, now is the time to do it. Amazon just dropped a deal to get $150 off this powerhouse laptop for Prime Day (June 23 through June 26), and I’m ready to ditch my Intel i7 once and for all.
The M5 chip — Apple’s latest generation of chips — is a performance powerhouse that elevates everyday tasks through hardware-accelerated AI.
Practically speaking, hardware-accelerated AI means the laptop has a physical, dedicated brain just for smart tasks. This ensures your computer never slows down or freezes while performing complex automated actions.
When you write emails or essays, the laptop can instantly rewrite paragraphs, adjust your tone, or summarize giant articles directly on your screen. You can also edit photos instantly, removing background strangers or upscaling blurry images in seconds without any annoying lag.
During video calls, the M5 chip instantly isolates your voice to block out background noise like barking dogs. Siri also becomes highly capable, allowing you to point to a photo on your screen and simply say “Send this to Mom.”
Because the chip is so fast, all of this data processing happens directly on your laptop rather than a remote cloud server. This setup keeps your personal files completely private and secure.
Supercharged by a faster CPU and a powerful Neural Engine, this laptop makes heavy multitasking and creative workflows smooth and responsive.
It features a brilliant 13.6-inch Liquid Retina display, a 12MP Center Stage camera for perfect video calls and two Thunderbolt 4 ports.
With groundbreaking Apple Intelligence privacy protections, up to 18 hours of battery life, and fast 512GB SSD storage, you can securely work, create and play all day without ever needing to plug in.
This laptop is perfect for everyday tasks, now made simpler with AI. If you haven’t updated your gear in a few years, this $150 incentive should be a sign from the heavens that it’s time to replace your old, beaten-up computer.

Former President Barack Obama and ex-first lady Michelle Obama took digs at President Trump during a three-hour ceremony celebrating their legacy at a new center in Chicago — alongside foreign dignitaries, Hollywood stars and other A-listers.
Obama said in his remarks at a dedication ceremony for his new presidential center in Chicago that on the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, it was important to remember how “radical the whole idea of self-government really was back in 1776.”
“To that point, human history was a tale of conquest and caste and rigid hierarchies. A world where the strong dominated the weak, where power and wealth and status flowed through lineage, and the many were ruled by the few,” the 44th president said.

“But out of the fire and steel of a revolution, a different story took flight on this continent a declaration that we are all created equal, endowed by our creator with certain unalienable rights, and that in the newly independent United States there will be no kings or lower, no serfs or subjects, but only citizens.”
“No Kings” demonstrations have swept through major cities like New York and Washington, DC, since Trump was inaugurated for a second time in January 2025, opposing the president’s immigration agenda and other policies.
Though Obama left office in January 2017, the Presidential Center’s 19-acre campus on the South Side of Chicago — with a near-windowless, 225-foot towering museum at its center — took years to build as costs ballooned from $500 million to more than $830 million.

Obama also thanked his wife and daughters, joking that Michelle “did me wrong” by not letting him review her own remarks beforehand, which had caused him to become visibly emotional.
“She knew she was going to mess me up, and she did it anyway. But she’s always made me better. And I could not be more grateful,” he admitted.
Michelle Obama praised her husband’s achievements in and out of office, needling Trump — without naming him — for having propagated “lies” about her husband’s “birthright.”

“When fact and fiction run together, when folks seek to stifle speech, limit access to education, devalue diversity, erase the inconvenient parts of our history, when our phone constantly buzz with the latest outrage,” she continued in veiled attacks at the Trump administration and Republicans, “I hope that this place can offer a respite from all that — at least for a little while.”
Michelle Obama praised her husband for “ending a war, ordering the bin Laden raid, saving an auto industry, winning a peace prize,” the final of which feat earned loud applause from his ex-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton seated behind him.
Trump has fumed for years about Obama winning the coveted prize, while he has not yet.
Former Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Joe Biden joined the ex-first family onstage for the ceremony with their wives: first ladies Hillary Clinton, Laura Bush and Jill Biden. Former Vice President Kamala Harris and ex-German Chancellor Angela Merkel also attended.
The 46th president appeared somewhat disoriented as he left the stage following a concluding performance from Stevie Wonder, Bruce Springsteen and other musicians, with Biden pointing in different directions as his head swiveled looking to find an exit.

“Thank you for your steadfast partnership for eight years,” Obama said at one point of Joe and Jill Biden in his speech. “Joe, we started as running mates and ended as family, and we would not be here without you. And we are grateful.”
He also told the 46th president that a flailing debate performance had “greatly diminished” his chances of beating Trump in 2024.

Three days later, Biden dropped out and was succeeded as the Democratic nominee by his vice president, Kamala Harris.
Comedian Dave Chapelle, actor Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, as well as other celebrities, attended the grand opening with other musical performances by John Legend, Common and Christina Aguilera.
The ceremony came in the backdrop of high-stakes foreign policy decisions in Washington between US and Iran to end the conflict.
The war began with joint American-Israeli airstrikes on Feb. 28 to decimate Tehran’s military capabilities but resulted in the closure of the Strait of Hormuz — and surging energy prices.
“We’ve learned that we can’t solve every conflict, or solve or stop every atrocity around the globe,” said Obama, whose administration had secured a nuclear agreement with Iran that had been undone by Trump in the 45th president’s term.
Knicks guard Josh Hart got an unexpected surprise from his wife, Shannon, during the team’s championship parade in New York on Thursday.
Shannon sneakily put right her hand on Hart’s behind which made him jump and quickly turn around while they were atop the Knicks’ bus, as seen in a viral video online.
Hart had his back turned to Shannon while he was waving to fans with one hand and holding a cigar in the other.
She was laughing and holding a beer while standing with Samara Hillman, wife of Matt Hillman, who is a co-host of the “Roommates” podcast with Hart and Brunson.
Many online joked that Shannon was getting “revenge” for Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson after Hart did a similar gesture to him while celebrating the team’s NBA Cup Championship in December.

At the time, Brunson, who immediately felt a poke around his rear end, turned around and stared at Hart, his former Villanova teammate.
The Knicks beat the Spurs 124-113 to win the league’s mid-season tournament in Las Vegas — and six months later, New York won four of five against San Antonio in the 2026 NBA Finals.
The ticker-tape parade came after Hart and Brunson tossed the ceremonial first pitches at the Yankee Stadium on Wednesday night.
The Knicks have been busy making the rounds in the media after bringing at title back to Madison Square Garden for the first time in 53 years.

Hart, Brunson and Hillman will host their “Roommates” podcast live at the Infosys Theater at MSG on Friday.
Hart and Shannon, who got married in August 2021, welcomed their twin sons, Hendrix Aaron and Haze Dana, in May 2023.
The Knicks were heralded as royalty Thursday in what is estimated to be the largest ticker tape parade — and biggest party — in Big Apple history, with ravenous fans arriving hours ahead of the event to catch a glimpse of the champions.
An estimated 2 million fans flooded lower Manhattan for the blockbuster event, forming a sea of orange and blue that extended blocks beyond the Canyon of Heroes and swelled with unadulterated joy.

“This is Knick City! This is basketball town,” said Al James, of Staten Island, who took the day off from the MTA to participate.
“I never felt the energy like this. I’ve never seen anything like this before.”
The exuberant vibes and a ceremony to give the team the ceremonial keys were the icing on the cake after a historic playoff run that saw the Knicks go 16-3 and rattle off 13 wins in a row.
The team finished off their epic Finals run by polishing off the San Antonio Spurs and NBA golden boy Victor Wembanyama in 5 games, in heated battles that saw Wemby become the most hated man in New York because of his roughhouse play — and the Knicks come out on top in a Game 4 showdown that saw them erase a 29-point deficit.

The championship turned even cynical New Yorkers giddy and transformed the five boroughs into party central during and after games, with the parade and ceremony Thursday serving as a primal catharsis for a title-starved fanbase that went 53 years without an NBA title.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani teased that the ticker tape parade could be the biggest in Big Apple history days before, saying 1 million could attend — although turnout was at least double that.
Sean Dolan, 28, of Jersey City, planted himself in the area at 2 a.m., telling The Post the party was “like Christmas.”
Here’s the latest coverage on the Knicks’ historic ticker-tape championship parade
“It’s one of the biggest moments of my life, honestly. Just being able to see the team you’ve been rooting for your whole life win, being able to come and celebrate it with those millions and millions Knicks fans that are going to be here today, it’s an insane feeling,” Dolan said.
Gabriel Walcott, 18, woke up at 3 a.m. to race to the event from Ronkomkoma with a Brunson, egg and cheese in hand, saying he was “willing to do anything” to be a part of the action.

Many also flocked from other states for the occasion, including Azaa and Bobby Thorpe, who had the 10-hour drive from North Carolina.
“This means the world to me,” said Azaa, 70, with Bobby, 67, adding, “The team won the game but they won it for everybody out here today. I was saying thank God. They finally did it.”
The crowds were so intense that many people were turned away from the access points by 7:30 a.m. — less than an hour after fans were allowed to start filing inside the parade area.

The subways were also so overwhelmed with fans that it took some passengers around 30 minutes to crawl from the platforms onto the street.
The NYPD and organizers had double-barricaded the parade area in anticipation of the chaos, but the metal gates were no match for the ravenous Knicks fans.
Hundreds brazenly broke through and hopped the barricades and sprinted past officers in a desperate attempt to catch a glimpse of their heroes parading through lower Manhattan.

Dozens of others perched atop scaffolding, subway entrances, street signs and the sides of buildings.
Those who couldn’t squeeze into the packed parade areas instead flooded into nearby bars, where they followed the floats pass by on the television.
“It’s nothing but pure joy out here. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” said Kendall, who arrived at 6:30 a.m. but was turned away from the parade.

“Today, it doesn’t matter where you’re from, what your politics are. Today, we’re all New Yorkers,” the West Villager said.
The ticker tape parade concluded at City Hall, where the champions were presented with keys to the City of New York.
The players are the first to be bestowed the Mamdani-era commemorative keys, which feature an apple and leaf motif instead of the traditional seal of New York City.

The Golden State crushed the competition in a new Robb Report ranking of the 10 best new restaurants in America for 2026, claiming nearly half the list, and the coveted number one spot.
Taking the crown at the top is Lilo, an ultra-intimate fine dining destination tucked inside a former boogie board factory in Carlsbad, north of San Diego. The 24-seat tasting counter was crowned the best new restaurant in the country, beating out buzzy openings from New York, Chicago, Houston and beyond.
The honor caps a meteoric rise for the tiny Southern California powerhouse Lilo, which opened in 2025, and earned a Michelin star soon after opening.
Chef Eric Bost and restaurateur John Resnick transformed the former industrial space into a minimalist dining room centered around a chef’s counter, where guests are treated to an elaborate multi-course tasting menu.
California’s dominance didn’t stop there, as three other restaurants also landed on the top 10 list.

“Of the 52 different songs played across the weekend (including some lengthy jams topped by an epic 42 minutes of “Tweezer” that wove in and out of Sunday’s exploratory final set), just seven tunes came from recordings since Phish’s reformation in 2009.”
