Five muggers ambushed a 58-year-old passer-by and viciously stabbed him three times in The Bronx on Sunday — and still didn’t manage to make off with anything, cops said.
The violent crew repeatedly knifed the victim in the back and punched and kicked him during the 7:20 p.m. attempted robbery on Webster Avenue near East 167th Street in Morrisania, authorities said.
The ruffians were looking to empty the victim’s pockets of cash but got away with nothing, according to police.

The battered victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, cops said.
The suspects ran off on East 167th Street and had not been caught by Monday.
It was not immediately clear whether the victim knew his attackers.
The brutal incident took place in the confines of the NYPD’s 42nd Precinct, where robberies have seen about a 33 percent decrease so far this year, according to the latest department data.
A total of 139 robberies were reported within the precinct’s boundaries through Sunday, compared to 207 during the same period in 2025, statistics show.
