Skywatchers could see the crescent moon align with these 3 planets this week

Skywatchers, get ready — one of June’s most spectacular celestial events begins tonight, just days before the summer solstice.

People around the world will have a chance to see the crescent moon align with Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury in the evening sky several nights this week.

The three-night celestial phenomenon begins Tuesday after sunset and continues through Thursday night.

During the event, the crescent moon will hang low above the western horizon, appearing near the trio of bright planets and creating a memorable sight for observers.

Experts say Mercury may be the most difficult planet to see because it is not as bright as Venus and Jupiter, and it’s lower in the sky. However, it should still be visible to the naked eye under clear conditions, without the need for binoculars or a telescope.

Because the event spans three evenings, skywatchers will have some flexibility to choose the night with the best weather conditions.

Skywatchers will be able to view all four objects about an hour after sunset.

Officials recommend finding a dark location away from city lights and streetlamps. Allow your eyes about 20 to 30 minutes to adjust to the darkness to maximize visibility.

The celestial event comes just days after the conjunction of Venus and Jupiter, which occurred between June 8 and 9, when the two planets appeared close together in the night sky.

Inspector gives update on missing South Carolina personal trainer Elena Moore as search enters 6th day

An inspector has given an update as the search continues for a missing personal trainer who vanished after leaving a gym in South Carolina six days ago.

Cops said they were not eying Elena Moore’s husband, Brannon Slice, as a person of interest as they continue to look for his 39-year-old wife.

“Mr. Slice is not a person of interest at the current moment,” Lexington Police Department Inspector Missy Silcox told Newsweek late Tuesday.

Silcox said there was no indication of foul play but did not elaborate, according to Newsweek.

Slice, who reported Moore missing Friday, is cooperating with investigators, private investigator Harry Dukes told the outlet.

Silcox’s comments came as armchair sleuths wildly speculated online about Slice, questioning why it took him “a day” to report his wife missing.

Moore was last seen leaving Planet Fitness in Lexington and walking toward a wooded area near a  Lowe’s Home Improvement store at 9:17 p.m. Thursday, the Lexington Police Department said.

Moore had signed in at the gym at around 6:40 p.m. and was last seen on surveillance footage wearing the same outfit she had on at the gym, an olive green zip-up hoodie and black athletic pants, investigators revealed.

Slice reported her missing the following day, but the time was unclear.

Law enforcement, after launching a drone search, initially focused on the woods, trails, and farmland behind the Planet Fitness where she was last seen. Police have said it was not a recovery effort, but an attempt to eliminate one possible location where Moore could be.

On Wednesday, police expanded the search area to a wooded area near Lakeside Middle School, roughly a mile from where she was last seen, according to The State.

The expanded search came after a tipster reported seeing Moore walking towards the woods near the school on Wednesday morning, the outlet reported.

Police released new photographs of Moore, including images captured on a front door camera a week before her disappearance, hoping someone recognizes her and can offer information about her whereabouts.

Moore is a personal trainer at Wolf’s Fitness Center and works as a pharmacy technician at CVS, police added.

She is 5 feet 7 inches tall and 120 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Police didn’t immediately return a call Wednesday afternoon. Slice also didn’t return a request for comment from The Post.

Anyone with information about Moore’s whereabouts should contact detectives at 803-358-7271.

The family behind football legend Lionel Messi: Wife Antonela Roccuzzo and three sons

Soccer star Lionel Messi’s family is total goals.

The FIFA World Cup winner met his wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, when the two were children, before reconnecting in 2005.

The couple went on to welcome their eldest son, Thiago, in 2012.

In 2015, Messi and Roccuzzo’s son Mateo was born, just two years before the pair tied the knot in 2017.

Messi, 38, and Roccuzzo, also 38, completed their family in 2018 with the birth of their son Ciro.

The athlete is once again the captain of team Argentina at the 2026 World Cup, with his partner and three little ones cheering him on from the sidelines.

Keep reading for everything you need to know about Messi’s family.

Roccuzzo’s love story with Messi dates back to childhood.

The lovebirds both grew up in Rosario, Argentina and first crossed paths through Roccuzzo’s cousin and Messi’s longtime pal Lucas Scaglia.

The two met at a young age and remained close even after Messi relocated to Spain to join Barcelona’s youth academy, La Masia.

In 2005, Messi went back home to Argentina to support Roccuzzo after she tragically lost a close friend.

Once the soccer player returned to Spain, the couple began dating long-distance before publicly confirming their romance in 2009.

They tied the knot on June 30, 2017 at City Center Hotel Casino in Rosario.

Along with being a mom and wife, Roccuzzo has garnered almost 40 million followers on Instagram working as both an influencer and philanthropist.

The model has showed her support for her husband throughout his career, often sporting his No. 10 jersey to matches.

Messi and Roccuzzo welcomed Thiago on November 2, 2012.

After his birth, Messi tattooed the newborn’s name and handprints on his calf.

In 2013, Messi opened up about fatherhood to El Periódico, stating, “When I look at life, think about each moment, when I analyze every situation … Now everything is different.”

In 2022, ahead of the star winning the World Cup, Thiago showed his support by writing down the lyrics to “Muchachos Ahora Nos Volvimos a Ilusionar.”

According to ESPN, the song has become an anthem among Argentina fans and loosely translates to, “Guys, now we have hope once again.”

At the time, Messi dubbed the tune as his favorite, and it quickly became the unofficial anthem for Argentina during the game.

Messi’s oldest child is now following in his footsteps through youth soccer.

Thiago was previously a member of Barcelona’s academy, just like his dad was.

In 2020, a clip of the little athlete scoring a goal during his first match on the team went viral.

After attending Paris Saint-Germain academy, Thiago currently resides on Inter Miami’s under-12 squad.

Mateo, 10

Messi and Roccuzzo’s second son, Mateo, was born on Sept. 11, 2015.

In 2019, while speaking with ESPN UK, Messi said about his middle child, “Mateo is very special, he’s always doing new things, things that grab your attention.”

The sports champion revealed that Mateo takes after him in a number of ways, including competitiveness.

After Argentina lost to Saudi Arabia in 2022, Messi told reporters at the time that Mateo left the game in tears.

“My family suffers the same as all Argentines,” he expressed.

The couple’s youngest son was born on March 10, 2018.

Roccuzzo tattooed the word “Ciro” on her arm after his arrival, while Messi added ink alongside his tattoos for his other sons.

In a 2016 essay for Sports Illustrated, the professional footballer opened up about what a day in the life off the field looks like for him with his kids.

“A typical day involves taking Thiago to school, going to training, hanging out at home drinking maté and spending time with Anto and the kids at the park or somewhere,” he penned at the time.

“It’s a normal, calm life, the kind of life we have always wanted.”

In March, the mom of three wished Ciro a happy birthday, writing on Instagram, “It’s been 8 years of watching you grow up already. We are very proud of you Ciro! We love you so much.”

Sen. Rick Scott asks Trump admin to strip CodePink’s tax-exempt status over China funding ties

WASHINGTON — Sen. Rick Scott (R-Fla.) is calling on the Trump administration to strip lefty activist group CodePink of its tax-exempt status over its alleged funding connections to the Chinese Communist Party and potentially other US adversaries like Cuba.

Scott wrote a letter to IRS Commissioner Frank Bisignano on Wednesday, saying that the 501(c)(3) educational group has “long been connected to shady characters, acted inappropriately, and
seemingly broken the rules and standards established for non-profit entities.”

“The American people have a right to expect that the substantial privileges associated with tax-exempt status are reserved for organizations that operate independently and in furtherance of legitimate charitable, educational, and public interest purposes,” Scott wrote in the missive.

For years, the rowdy cabal of pink-clad feminist agitators have disrupted congressional hearings and badgered lawmakers all over Capitol Hill in protest of American support of Israel, among other issues.

The Florida Republican argued that CodePink has been running afoul of its nonprofit eligibility by lobbying members of Congress publicly and privately by pushing propaganda about the CCP — including through its denials about the widely reported use of forced labor in Xinjiang Province.

“While this connection to the CCP is concerning and warrants its own investigation, CodePink’s day-to-day activities raise questions about its eligibility as a 501(c)(3) organization,” the senator wrote.

Under IRS rules, 501(c)(3)s are restricted from engaging in “too much lobbying activity” to maintain their tax-exempt status.

“CodePink’s own website details how it was founded for the express purpose of lobbying Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress to ‘break with the party leadership’ during the Iraq War,” Scott recalled.

“The organization has never ceased lobbying Congress, boasting that it has ‘become famous for confronting the warmongers, in the halls and hearing rooms of Congress, the national conventions of both the Republicans and Democrats, political fundraisers, and in the streets,’” he added, citing the group’s website.

Scott also raised concerns about the group’s alleged ties to China. It was co-founded by the wife of tech mogul Neville Roy Singham, a billionaire and Chinese Communist Party sympathizer, who has sponsored CodePink protests in the past.

This includes a Times Square demonstration opposing the US war with Iran. Singham, an American expat living in China, has faced accusations of working with Beijing’s propaganda machine.

The House Ways and Means Committee has also been probing CCP links to the CodePink funder.

Recently, the pink disruptor group was hit with federal subpoenas related to a March trip to Cuba, amid concerns about possible sanctions evasion.

Specifically, the Treasury Department is probing CodePink. Several of its leaders — including Medea Benjamin — stayed at a five-star hotel in Havana in March, ostensibly to provide humanitarian aid, though it’s unclear the degree to which they coordinated with the Cuban government.

“We brought desperately needed medicines and medical supplies at a time when Cuba is suffering catastrophic shortages caused by the crippling U.S. blockade,” Benjamin said in an earlier statement. “We stayed in hotels explicitly permitted under U.S. regulations: Spanish-owned hotels approved for U.S. travelers.”

The Post contacted the IRS and CodePink for comment.

Chase rose to fame for her voice work as lead character Lilo in Disney’s animated “Lilo & Stitch” in 2002, and as the voice of Chihiro in the English version of Hayao Miyazaki’s Oscar-winning animated fantasy “Spirited Away” in 2001.

In 2002, she spooked audiences as vengeful child-spirit Samara Morgan in the iconic horror movie “The Ring.” She also notably appeared in “Donnie Darko” in 2001.

On Wednesday, news broke that the actress had died on Tuesday at the age of 35 following a case of meningitis and a blood infection leading to sepsis, according to her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez.

TMZ reported that Chase had been admitted to a Los Angeles hospital earlier in June for malnutrition.

Hernandez set up a GoFundMe prior to her death, calling Chase “a light in [his] life” and noting that “behind the scenes, she’s faced more than her share of hardship.”

“After a difficult childhood and a painful falling out with her family, Daveigh was bullied and struggled to find safety and happiness in downtown LA,” he wrote via the campaign page.

“When we met, I promised to protect her and give her the love and comfort she deserved. Together, we found moments of happiness and hope.”

Hernandez went on to write that Chase was diagnosed with several “serious” blood infections and meningitis.

“Her condition has become critical, and the doctors have told me she may not have much time left,” he explained. “All she ever wanted was a place where we could live together, feel safe, and be happy. Now, more than ever, I want to give her that sense of home and peace in her final days.”

Shannon LeBeauf returns to Cori Close’s UCLA women’s basketball staff

One of Cori Close’s favorite assistant coaches is rejoining her staff.

Shannon LeBeauf, who spent last season at Rutgers after working alongside Close for the previous 14 years, is returning as associate head coach of the UCLA women’s basketball team.

Shannon LeBeauf is returning as associate head coach of the UCLA women’s basketball team.

LeBeauf replaces Michaela Onyenwere, who was on a one-year contract before returning to the WNBA this summer.

Close’s affinity for LeBeauf was apparent in February when she honored her longtime assistant with a pregame ceremony before the Bruins played Rutgers at Pauley Pavilion.

After the game, with her team well on the way to its first NCAA championship, Close paid tribute to LeBeauf immediately after she sat down to speak with reporters.

“We are not in this position without the investment in this program that coach Shannon gave us for 14 years,” Close said.

An ace recruiter who helped secure two top-ranked recruiting classes at UCLA — in addition to multiple top-10 classes at previous stops Duke and USC — LeBeauf was inducted into the A STEP UP Assistant Coaches Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2025.

“UCLA has always been a special place for me because of the people, the purpose and the commitment to excellence that exists throughout the program,” LeBeauf said in a statement. “My time away provided valuable opportunities to grow as a coach, a leader and a person, and I return with an even greater appreciation for what makes UCLA exceptional. I am thankful for God’s faithfulness throughout my journey and for the opportunity to return to a place that has been so meaningful to my growth both personally and professionally.”

During her 14 years on Cori Close’s UCLA staff, LeBeauf served as recruiting coordinator and was promoted to associate head coach before the 2019-20 season

During her 14 years on Close’s staff, LeBeauf served as recruiting coordinator and was promoted to associate head coach before the 2019-20 season. She helped bring in the school’s first top-ranked recruiting class in 2014-15 that included Recee’ Caldwell, Jordin Canada, Monique Billings, Lajahna Drummer and Kelli Hayes.

Thanks in large part to LeBeauf, UCLA brought in another top-ranked recruiting class in 2021-22 that included Kiki Rice, Gabriela Jaquez, Londynn Jones, Christeen Iwuala and Lina Sontag. Rice and Jaquez were central parts of the team that won the national title in April.

LeBeauf also helped establish the Leaders in Training mentorship program for players.

“Shannon LeBeauf has been such an integral part of our program,” Close said. “She is an elite recruiter and coach who knows how to build a No. 1 recruiting class and develop them to their full potential, both as student-athletes and as young women. We’re so happy to welcome her back to UCLA — she leads with humility and grace, and she creates such meaningful relationships with everyone in our program. I’m so excited that she’ll be on our sideline again; her voice and her presence is one of a kind.”

HHS to investigate American Psychological Association over alleged Jew-hatred, anti-Israel bias

The US Department of Health and Human Services is investigating the American Psychological Association following allegations of antisemitic discrimination, the Louis D. Brandeis Center for Human Rights Under Law announced on Wednesday.

The Brandeis Center filed a complaint with HHS on Aug. 8, 2025, alleging that the APA has “become one of the worst purveyors of antisemitism and extremist ideology in healthcare.” The complaint states that the association, which has more than 172,000 members, receives millions of dollars in federal funding annually.

“We are very pleased that HHS has recognized these problems and is investigating the APA,” Rebecca Harris, a litigation staff attorney at the Brandeis Center, told JNS. (JNS sought comment from HHS and the APA.)

The complaint alleges that Jewish and Israeli current and former APA members reported that the association promoted “Decolonizing Therapy,” which treats Zionism as a mental illness. Harris said the association sponsors continuing education courses that psychologists are required to take to maintain their licenses, and states entrust it with accrediting those courses.

“You have anti-Israel activist psychologists teaching courses about ‘psychic militancy’ and teaching about how to incorporate the ‘resistance’ or the ‘Palestinian liberation struggle’ into the clinical practice of mental health care,” Harris told JNS. She added that these teachers also use mental health terminology, like calling Zionists “psychotic,” that “advances political activism that is dangerous to Americans, but particularly Jewish Americans.”

The complaint also alleges that the association’s conferences have featured sessions promoting “Decolonizing Therapy” and portraying the Oct. 7 attacks in Israel as attacks on military targets. It further cites messages sent by association members through listservs that “glorify Hamas, call for boycotts of Israel, compare Gaza to the Warsaw ghetto and pray for Israel’s destruction.”

According to the complaint, Jewish members who raised concerns about antisemitism faced “open hostility” and saw their reports “dismissed, downplayed or ignored.” Harris said one Jewish therapist reported being harassed at an APA conference and “proper remedial steps were not taken.”

“She was told that the harasser would be removed from the conference. They ended up not removing him from the conference where this happened,” Harris said. “My understanding is that he actually will be speaking again at the APA’s upcoming conference.”

Harris told JNS that HHS informed the Brandeis Center that, as a result of the complaint, it is investigating whether the association is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and Section 1557 of the Affordable Care Act, which extends Title VI to federally funded health care programs.

“Our hope is that HHS will ensure that if APA is going to continue to be a recipient of federal funds, that it comes into compliance with its obligations under the federal civil rights law, that it’s not discriminating against its Jewish members, that it’s not promoting discrimination of Jews within the broader mental health profession,” she told JNS.
