Officials in Brazil investigate helicopter crash that killed 6


RIO DE JANEIRO — Officials in Brazil on Monday were inspecting the site of a crash in which six people were killed Sunday, after two helicopters collided midair over a suburb of Rio de Janeiro.

American singer Oliver Tree was among those listed on the passenger list filed with aviation authorities for one of the helicopters that crashed into the parking lot of a car dealership, although police did not yet confirm his body was found in the crash.

Police confirmed the death of Gaspar Prim Díaz — an Argentine content creator known as Gaspi with more than 2.8 million followers on YouTube — another Argentine Lucas Vignale and three Brazilians — Lucas Brito, Charles Marsillac and Alexandre Souza. The body of one foreigner was not yet identified.

Human error might have led to the collision between the two helicopters, Rio de Janeiro police investigator Alan Luxardo told reporters Monday at the crash site. He added that authorities were investigating whether air traffic controllers or one of the pilots was responsible for the crash.

Tree, 32, was visiting Rio as part of a world tour that included stops in Argentina, Brazil, Portugal and Spain. On Saturday, the singer and comedian had published a comical video where Tree was seen playing soccer in a Brazilian neighborhood.

Some celebrities began to publish tributes to Tree on Sunday, including Jake Paul, a promoter known for taking on professional boxers in highly publicized fights, who called the singer “one of the most kind and funny people in the world.”

Drew Binsky, a content creator known for visiting every country in the world, wrote on Instagram that Tree had come to him for travel advice because the singer also wanted to visit every country.

“We just spoke a few days ago and I was planning to show him around Prague in three weeks,” Binsky wrote. “He has become a great friend of mine and is genuinely one of the kindest and most positive people I’ve ever met.”

Argentine streaming channel Blender thanked Gaspi for his art in a post on X.

“Every one of us will miss you,” Blender said.

Looks like Knicks star Mikal Bridges is really enjoying the team’s NBA championship win.

The former Villanova Wildcat went crazy on Instagram Live on Monday, doing everything from discussing Jalen Brunson getting a statue to singing to his dog Sonny.

“Build him a statue,” Bridges said. “Build that little big-headed ass n—a a statue bro.”

Bridges continued to support the NBA Finals MVP, sarcastically imitating people who questioned the decision to bring in Brunson from the Mavericks.

“Just take over the Knicks and get a chip,” Bridges said. “That’s some savage talk.”

The guard didn’t just talk about Brunson, though; he also showed off his jersey collection, which included signed jerseys from Josh Hart, Donte DiVincenzo and Austin Reaves.

Knicks owner James Dolan also got a shoutout from Bridges for helping the team lock in over the past 10 weeks as they rolled through the playoffs.

He also referenced Dolan’s reported plea to the players about not having sex during the playoff run.

“Someone take Mikal’s phone away,” Brunson wrote on X.

MEXICO CITY — Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum on Monday said FIFA should reflect on the high cost of tickets for the 2026 World Cup as many have called the price far out of reach for the vast majority of Mexicans.

Sheinbaum told journalists that soccer should be much more than a business.

“Soccer has to be something else,” she said. “All of this should prompt reflection, even within FIFA.”

There was no immediate public reaction from FIFA. Its president, Gianni Infantino, last week defended high ticket prices as fitting in the North American market.

Earlier this year, tickets for matches in the three host countries including Mexico went on sale at prices ranging from $140 to $8,680. While some prices have fallen, others have soared. Tickets for the final are priced at $32,970. Resale prices are higher. In April, FIFA’s own resale platform listed four tickets for the final at around $2.3 million each.

Although Mexico’s president acknowledged that it is “fine” for the World Cup to be run as a business, she said soccer also should be “a space for bringing people together, like all sports.”

Sheinbaum’s government has come under criticism by a range of social movements protesting in Mexico City, which say the government is prioritizing the tournament over pressing social needs.

Meanwhile, parts of stadiums in places like Guadalajara have had visibly empty seats. FIFA last week blamed some empty seats in Guadalajara on fans who watched from the concourses.

Since the prices were announced for the 104 World Cup matches to be played in Mexico, the United States and Canada, Sheinbaum has spoken out and promoted a government-backed “Social World Cup” initiative.

The program aims to set up street festivals in Mexico City and other cities across the country where Mexicans and foreign tourists can watch matches free of charge on giant screens.

According to local authorities, half a million people attended the 18 street festivals across Mexico City on June 11 to watch the opening match in which Mexico defeated South Africa.

Sheinbaum also broke with a longstanding World Cup tradition under which the host country’s president attends the opening match. Instead, she gave her ticket to a 21-year-old Indigenous female soccer player who had no financial means of purchasing one.

The federal government also decided that public officials would give up about 500 tickets to people who participated in “Social World Cup” activities, and that 88 tickets would be distributed through schools.

Keep holding on to those $2 bills — soon there may be none left to collect. 

As America approaches its 250th anniversary next month, the US Mint is celebrating the milestone with special coin releases, but the semiquincentennial also marks a pause in $2 bill printing.

The Federal Reserve’s print order for $2 bills this year displayed a range of 0 to 0. There are currently roughly 1.8 billion $2 bills in circulation—the highest volume in the past 20 years, according to Federal Reserve data.

There are currently about 2.4 billion $10 bills and 3.7 billion $5 bills in circulation, which makes $2 bill printing less of a necessity. 

The $2 bill was reintroduced in 1976 for America’s bicentennial after a printing pause from 1966 to 1976. During those ten years, people began collecting the bills instead of using them. With less wear-and-tear on the bills, there is less need to print replacements. 

In 2025, the bureau printed between 307.2 million and 416 million new $2 bills, which is a quota that exceeds the bill’s economic demand. Even though the bill only costs .2 cents to produce per bill, the decreased reliance on physical cash and the hoarding of these bills make their printing unwarranted. 

Despite the decade-long pause this past century, $2 bills have been consistently printed for 160 years. 

But people are hesitant to use them in transactions, as some who receive $2 bills are skeptical.

“Half the people I tip them with are excited to get a $2 bill regardless of whether it’s a good tip or not, the other half think it’s fake,” one Reddit user wrote. Another user said they had to explain to their co-workers in retail that $2 bills are US legal tender. 

Unaccustomed to using $2 bills, Gen Z customers have even reported being accused of using counterfeit bills when trying to pay with them 

The board has issued zero-print orders to the $2 bill in 2013, 2017, 2018, 2020 and 2023, based on yearly reports of the amount in circulation. 

While there are no new 250th edition $2 bills to collect, the U.S Mint is releasing special circulating coins with designs and special edition collectible coins with 1776-2026 displayed. There won’t be any new pennies, but the U.S. Mint will have dimes, quarters and half-dollar coins with new designs. 

The Treasury Department is also looking to produce a $250 bill with President Trump’s face and signature, as a nod to America’s 250th birthday. 

U.S Currency Auctions have continued to list $2 bill pricings for vintage bills and suggest that some $2 bills can be worth hundreds or thousands. Circulated bills can have an average value between $2 and $2,500, and uncirculated bills can be between $2 and $4,500, as of 2023. 

The USCA continues to update the average value prices of $2 bills based on money auction results and price retail sales for $2 bills.

CINCINNATI — An already thin Mets pitching rotation is losing another component.

Christian Scott is headed to the injured list, The Post confirmed, leaving the rotation in flux. The Post’s Jon Heyman reported that Scott is dealing with a hip issue that isn’t deemed serious.

Scott has joined Freddy Peralta and Nolan McLean to give the Mets a respectable top three in the rotation, but there are questions beyond that.

Sean Manaea has just begun looking better after struggling to begin the season and David Peterson has scuffled in recent appearances.

Scott, who missed last season rehabbing from Tommy John surgery, has pitched to a 3.10 ERA in nine starts this season.

Seasoning is the new self-care.

Promoted as a type of grounding, the practice of stomping on salt before bed is gaining traction among wellness fans who say it’s a boon for the body.

“If you are not standing on salt before bed, you are missing out,” claims wellness TikTok user Tammy Weatherhead as she pours Epsom salt onto a baking sheet and shuffles her feet on it.

Weatherhead maintains the viral hack not only exfoliates feet but reduces inflammation and shifts the nervous system into “rest mode” by curbing cortisol and spiking serotonin, thus preparing the body for a solid night’s sleep.

“It feels insane in the best way,” she promises.

Others are also sloughing off before sleep and sinking their feet into the trend. One TikTok user said daily salt grounding helps relieve her anxiety, while another calls it the most ancient energetic cleaning practice, effectively resetting the system from the ground up.

While online acolytes continue to multiply, experts say the trend may be more hot air than rock-solid healing modality.

“Take the information with a grain of salt,” internist Dr. Yoshua Quinones quipped to The Post. “There is no solid scientific evidence that standing on Epsom salt can increase serotonin levels or lower cortisol levels.”

Quinones notes that while salt grounding cannot influence hormonal levels, it can effectively exfoliate the skin.

“The sensation can be soothing and may promote relaxation and mindfulness, and help some people unwind before bedtime. Any calming effect is likely due to the sensory experience and the relaxation ritual itself rather than a chemical reaction occurring in the body.”

But the technique is not for everyone, he added — those with cuts, wounds, cracked skin, diabetic foot conditions or neuropathy should avoid it, as it can cause irritation or discomfort.

Others stress that a pre-sleep salt stomp could be useless at best and harmful at worst.

“There’s no evidence that standing on salt calms anything,” Dr. Saema Tahir, a board-certified sleep physician, told The Post. In fact, she says science supports the opposite.

“Research shows high salt exposure activates the sympathetic nervous system, raising heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol, and promotes inflammation rather than reducing it.”

While there is may be some validity in the mental health benefits of grounding in salt, it’s more about the experience than the substance.

“While it’s a relatively harmless sensory ritual, the claims about brain chemistry are wildly inflated,” psychiatrist Dr. Bonnie Mitchell told The Post. “The salt itself isn’t altering your nervous system through the skin. However, standing still, focusing on the unique texture under your feet, and slowing down before bed are classic sensory grounding exercises.”

Mitchell explains that serotonin is produced in the gut and the brain, while cortisol is managed by the adrenal glands.

“There is zero clinical evidence that localized pressure on dry salt crystals commands the brain or endocrine system to alter these chemicals. Any actual drop in cortisol would be the result of the general relaxation response mentioned above, not a magical chemical reaction with the salt.”

Because the foot is densely packed with nerve endings, stimulating them through texture can promote microcirculation and effectively shift the nervous system from “fight or flight” to “rest and digest,” according to Mitchell.

However, the same downshift can be achieved by walking barefoot on grass, stepping on smooth pebbles or doing deep breathing exercises.

Moreover, when it comes to health benefits, grounding is not necessarily the best application of salt.

“If someone wants the true therapeutic benefits of salt for their feet, a warm Epsom salt soak is vastly superior. The warm water dilates blood vessels to improve circulation, softens the skin for actual exfoliation, and allows the muscles in the feet to truly relax.”

Brooklyn Beckham took a swipe at his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, in a new advertisement as his family feud continues to rage on.

The Cloud23 Hot Sauce founder referenced his “complicated” relationship with his parents and siblings in a DoorDash ad shared on his Instagram Monday.

“You’re probably wondering why I’m watching the FIFA World Cup 2026 from home,” he said in the video while sitting on his couch wearing a sweatshirt and jeans.

“It’s a long story,” he said with a laugh as he tossed World Cup tickets onto his coffee table.

Brooklyn, 27, also captioned the post, “Long story.”

Several fans flooded the comments section to weigh in on Brooklyn taking a dig at the former soccer player and Spice Girls alum.

“When you have to keep having digs at your family to stay relevant,” one person commented.

The video comes just days after his sister, Harper, was seen going to Brooklyn’s house — only to leave a few moments later without seeing her brother.

Page Six obtained photos of the 14-year-old arriving at Brooklyn’s Beverly Hills, California, home shortly after celebrating David’s starry Walk of Fame ceremony in Hollywood last Friday.

A source told us that Harper showed up unannounced and left seconds later as Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, were not home at the time. (Brooklyn later shared in an Instagram post that he was in New York when his sister dropped by.)

A rep for the couple told Page Six that they believe her visit to their home was staged for the paparazzi.

However, a source close to David and Victoria later slammed the claim as “clearly nonsense.”

Rumors started swirling that the family was at odds around his 2022 wedding to Nicola.

This past January, Brooklyn shared a bombshell statement confirming that he does not “want to reconcile with my family.” He also accused his mom of hijacking their wedding dance and claimed his parents “controlled narratives in the press” about their family.

“I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he said at the time.

“For my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family [with] performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships. … Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they’ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade.”

A seat is being left empty in the press box at every France game at the World Cup to highlight the case of a French sports journalist who is in prison in Algeria.

Christophe Gleizes was sentenced in 2025 for seven years for supporting terrorism.

French journalists’ unions have called on Algeria to release Gleizes, who specialises in African football for the Paris-based So Foot magazine.

On Monday, journalists held up scarves saying ‘Free Gleizes’ before France boss Didier Deschamps’ news conference at the New Jersey New York Stadium to preview Tuesday’s game with Senegal (20:00 BST).

Gleizes’ mother Sylvie has travelled to the World Cup to highlight her son’s case.

She told BBC Sport on Monday that his accreditation for the tournament was personally approved by Fifa president Gianni Infantino.

She added that her son felt “cut off” from the world.
