Cunning Batman-style gadget discovered on California car during traffic stop

A California driver learned that comic-book tricks don’t fly on public roads after officers discovered a device that could make a license plate vanish at the push of a button.

The unusual modification was found during a traffic stop involving a black BMW, according to the California Highway Patrol, which spotlighted the case in a playful social media post.

“Holy hidden licenses plate, Batman!” the agency wrote.

CHP said an officer noticed what appeared to be a gadget straight out of a superhero movie attached to the vehicle’s license plate.

With a single button press, the plate disappears from view, preventing it from being read by anyone, including bridge toll cameras.

“If you aren’t wearing a cape driving the Batmobile, it might be time to rethink your modifications,” the post added.

The CHP’s post quickly drew reactions from social media users, many of whom joked about the device.

Logan Lewis commented, “Avoiding tolls with this might actually be genius.”

William Chow wrote, “Where do I get one? Asking for a friend.”

Ryan Hilderbrand added, “I bet he uses that more than the blinkers.”

While the gadget sparked laughs online, California law takes the issue seriously.

Under California Vehicle Code Section 5201, both front and rear license plates must remain clearly visible and readable at all times.

The state also strengthened enforcement through Assembly Bill 1085, which specifically prohibits the use, sale, or manufacture of products designed to obstruct or interfere with license plate readability.

Authorities say physical and electronic plate-hiding devices are commonly used by drivers involved in illegal street racing, sideshows, robberies and grand thefts because concealed plates make it harder for witnesses and law enforcement to identify vehicles tied to crimes.

The devices can also be used to dodge California’s pay-by-plate toll systems on bridges, express lanes and FasTrak routes, allowing drivers to avoid paying fees and shifting costs onto law enforcement agencies and taxpayers.

Bethany Christian Services barring LGBTQ couples from adopting chidren

One of the nation’s largest Christian foster care and adoption agencies will no longer allow LGBTQ couples to foster or adopt children through its programs, clarifying a years-old policy and citing a renewed commitment to its religious beliefs.

Bethany Christian Services announced the change in a Wednesday press release, saying future foster families must align with the organization’s Statement of Faith and Belief.

“Clarity around our Christian identity is essential to our Christian witness and critical to the long-term health, sustainability, and impact of our mission,” Keith Cureton, CEO of Bethany Christian Services, told Fox News Digital in a statement.

“We believe this clarity strengthens our ministry, honors those we serve, and reinforces alignment with partners who share our faith convictions,” Cureton added.

Bethany Christian Services, headquartered in Grand Rapids, Michigan, was founded in 1944, and is a faith-based non-for-profit that serves over 25 U.S. states and is “dedicated to helping children and families thrive.”

“This work is about reinforcing the Christian foundation that has guided our organization for more than 80 years,” a spokesperson for Bethany Christian Services told Fox News Digital in a statement Friday.

“These actions flow from our conviction that faithfulness to God’s Word must remain central to our mission of demonstrating the love and compassion of Jesus through quality social services.

Beginning June 2027, Bethany will only license and re-license foster families whose Christian faith and beliefs align with our Statement of Faith and Belief.

“We will communicate directly with families to help them understand expectations and next steps. Families who are not aligned with Bethany Christian Services Statement of Faith and Belief and Christian mission will be supported through a thoughtful transition process.”

The “God’s design for marriage” section in the “Statement of faith and belief” dated June 2027 reads, “We believe God designed the family as the primary structure for love, care, and human flourishing. We work to strengthen families and preserve them whenever possible. We affirm the biblical design of marriage as a covenant between one man and one woman, established by God to reflect His love and faithfulness. This covenant reflects Christ’s love and provides a stable, nurturing environment for children.”

The press release also clarified, “The organization will continue to serve all children and families who seek its help, regardless of their individual circumstances, beliefs, or background. Bethany will do so motivated by its Christian faith and in accordance with its sincerely held Christian beliefs.”

Putin claims Ukraine can’t stop him, as fire rages at major Russian oil terminal

Russian President Vladimir Putin claimed Ukraine couldn’t stop his military — even as Kyiv’s special forces struck deep inside the motherland igniting massive fires at a major oil terminal Saturday.

Putin insisted Kyiv, who’s been using longer-range drones to batter military and energy infrastructure deep in the heart of Russia in recent months, was turning to “terrorist methods.”

“The enemy is unable to contain this onslaught and is openly resorting to terrorist methods,” Putin said, speaking at a meeting televised live from the Kremlin Saturday.

“Our troops maintain a strategic advantage, confidently advancing, and no amount of shelling or drone strikes will change this situation,” he claimed.

The strongman’s spin came hours after Kyiv hit the Tamanneftegaz oil and gas terminal, a major export hub on the Black Sea, in Russia’s Krasnodar Krai region.

“It is petrodollars that turn into missiles, drones, and ammunition that the enemy uses to attack our cities,” Ukraine’s Security Service said on Telegram, claiming responsibility for the attack.

Tamanneftegaz is the largest oil and gas shipment terminal in the South of Russia, with an export capacity of roughly 400,000 barrels a day.

Ukrainian drones struck five fuel storage tanks and two oil-loading facilities at the terminal, sparking fires that spread to trucks and warehouse, the security service said.

Nearly 100 Russian firefighters responded to the blaze, local authorities said.

Meanwhile, a member of Putin’s own ruling communist party warned Russia was on the verge of collapse as he demanded the dictator to put an end to Europe’s deadliest conflict since World War II.

“The time of illusions is over. … If the situation persists, social unrest and chaos will become more likely. The West will inevitably exploit this to destroy the remnants of Russian statehood,” Russian Member of Parliament Vyacheslav Markhayev said, according to The Telegraph.

Markhayev is the latest Putin loyalist to break from parroting the official Kremlin line in recent months, as Russia’s economy sputters under the weight of wartime spending — fueling high taxes and inflation.

Even by the state-controlled media’s own public opinion poll, Putin’s trust rating plummeted to its lowest level since the invasion on Ukraine in 2022.

In April, a meager 29.5% of Russians named him as a politician they trusted, before the Russian Public Opinion Research Center survey was mysteriously discontinued.

Russian attacks across Ukraine overnight into Saturday meanwhile killed eight civilians and wounded another 62, as it launched 118 long-range drones, local authorities and the Ukrainian Air Force said.

Tom Brady reunites with ex Bridget Moynahan as son Jack, 18, graduates high school

Nineteen years after Tom Brady and Bridget Moynahan called it quits, the exes reunited at their son Jack Brady’s high school graduation.

The athlete posted a series of pictures from the 18-year-old’s ceremony on Saturday, including a shot of himself and the “Blue Bloods” actress posing on either side of Jack.

“One of the proudest days of my life, watching Jack walk across the stage, and graduate into the next chapter of what’s already an impressive life. You are an amazing son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend amongst many other things,” Tom, 48, gushed in the caption.

The football star added that what makes him “the happiest,” is how Jack shows up when no one is watching.

“The love you give our family, and the fact that you still let me win in 1v1 every once in a while,” Tom said about some of the things he loves most about his son.

“Whatever you chase next we know you’ll find success in,” he continued. “Be kind. Be yourself. And know your family and friends are always right behind you cheering the loudest because you do the same for everybody else! We love you.”

Other images in the carousel include Tom smiling for the camera alongside Jack and his two younger children: Benjamin, 16, and Vivian, 13, whom the former Patriots star shares with ex-wife Gisele Bündchen, 45.

Tom and Moynahan, 55, first debuted their romance in in 2004, before breaking up in 2006.

“[They] amicably ended their three-year relationship several weeks ago,” a rep for the model confirmed in December of that year. “We ask for your respect and consideration of their privacy. No further comments will be made.”

In February 2007, the New York Post broke the news that Moynahan was pregnant.

At that point, Tom had already moved on with Bündchen, whom he went on to tie the knot with in 2009.

In 2023, while chatting with Vanity Fair, the supermodel said Moynahan’s pregnancy was a “challenge” in her relationship with Brady but eventually “awakened [her] … desire of being a mom.”

For her part, Moynahan married businessman Andrew Frankel in 2015.

In 2019, the “Las Vegas” alum gushed about her and Tom’s ability to co-parent.

“We both found partners that not only supported us in raising that child, but also loved our child as if he was their own,” she told People at the time. “I don’t think you can ask for more than that. My son is surrounded by love and grandparents that go on forever, and it’s all good.”

However, by 2022, Tom and Bündchen had called it quits.

The former Victoria’s Secret angel has since moved on with Joaquim Valente.

Bündchen and the jiu-jitsu trainer — who first got together in 2022 — welcomed a baby boy in February 2025.

The couple secretly tied the knot in December.

Tom has since been linked to Kim Kardashian and Irina Shayk in 2023, Brooks Nader in 2024, Sofía Vergara and Alix Earle in 2025 and Scooter Braun’s ex-wife, Yael Cohen, in March.

Paul Goldschmidt’s homer propels Yankees to win over Blue Jays

TORONTO — At some point, Paul Goldschmidt’s time machine might stop working and spit him back out into the present day.

But in the meantime, the Yankees just keep getting incredible production from the former MVP and potential future Hall of Famer at a time when they desperately need it.

Goldschmidt delivered his latest lift Saturday afternoon at Rogers Centre, crushing a go-ahead, two-run homer off Blue Jays closer Louis Varland in the top of the ninth to send the Yankees to a 3-1 win in front of a sellout crowd of 42,364.

The 38-year-old Goldschmidt, getting everyday at-bats at DH or first base because of Giancarlo Stanton’s calf injury, broke a 1-1 tie and recorded the first home run that Varland has allowed this season. Goldschmidt finished the day batting .285 with nine home runs and a .889 OPS.

The veteran’s big swing came after Cam Schlittler and Kevin Gausman had engaged in a pitchers’ duel for seven innings, with each allowing just one run. Schlittler walked a season-high four batters but struck out seven and navigated his way around traffic all afternoon.

Gausman, meanwhile, allowed just one hit — a solo home run from Jasson Domínguez, fresh off the IL — and two harmless walks while limiting hard contact all game.

Once Gausman was out of the game, the Yankees quickly tripled their hit total on singles by J.C. Escarra and Ben Rice that put runners on the corners with two outs against submariner Tyler Rogers. But Domínguez was robbed of a chance to play hero, with his hard ground ball scooped up on a dive by first baseman Charles McAdoo for the final out.

The Blue Jays threatened as well in the bottom of the eighth, as Fernnado Cruz walked the bases loaded with two outs. But he followed Schlittler’s lead by pulling a Houdini, getting McAdoo to pop out to end the threat.

David Bednar then struck out the side in the bottom of the ninth to secure the Yankees (42-27) a rare win north of the border.

Schlittler began his escape act in the second inning, when he gave up a single, a walk and a swinging bunt single to load the bases with two outs before getting Andrés Giménez to ground out.

But the Blue Jays took a lead in the third inning when Kazuma Okamoto crushed his second home run in as many days. This one came on an 0-2 sinker that Schlittler threw above the zone and in, but Okamoto still got to it and sent it over the left-field wall for the 1-0 lead.

The Yankees quickly had an answer, though, in the form of Domínguez, who arrived at Rogers Centre less than two hours before first pitch after being activated off the IL earlier in the day to replace the injured Trent Grisham. He worked an eight-pitch at-bat off Gausman that ended with a splitter down the middle, which he drilled to right field for a home run to lead off the top of the fourth.

Schlittler played with fire the next two innings but somehow got out of each unscathed with the 1-1 tie intact.

In the bottom of the fourth, the Blue Jays had runners on second and third with one out after Yohendrick Piñango’s double. But Jazz Chisholm Jr. helped Schlittler out by making a terrific diving grab on a line drive to his right for the second out before Schlittler struck out Giménez to strand both runners.

Then in the fifth, Schlittler lost the zone and threw eight straight balls to George Springer and Nathan Lukes, putting runners on first and second with no outs. But he escaped once again, getting Okamoto to ground into a double play and then striking out Jesús Sánchez on a 99 mph heater.

Schlittler got another double play ball to end the sixth, keeping his pitch count in check so he could come back out for the seventh and work around another single before striking out Lukes on his 101st and final pitch to end the frame.

Israel strikes Hezbollah targets in Lebanon as Trump and Iran on cusp of deal

The war between Israel and Hezbollah continues to rage as President Trump and Iran inch closer to signing a historic peace deal.

The Israel Defense Forces said they struck over 70 Hezbollah targets in Southern Lebanon and killed several terrorists Saturday.

Over 20 Lebanese towns were given evacuation notices before Israeli forces pounded Hezbollah infrastructure and rocket launchers in Southern Lebanon.

A soldier fighting for the Lebanese Armed Forces — the official state military of Lebanon and not affiliated with the Iranian terror proxy Hezbollah — was seriously wounded by an Israeli drone attack, the IDF claimed.

Israeli forces continue to scan a massive Hezbollah tunnel system near the strategically significant Medieval era Beaufort Castle — which the IDF seized May 31 — and killed several Hezbollah terrorists attempting to emerge from the tunnels earlier in the week.

Trump announced that a deal with Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and curtail the country’s nuclear weapons program will be forged Sunday in a statement on Truth Social.

“The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL,” Trump posted.

Israeli leaders are fretting over the potential deal, fearing it will leave their security concerns unaddressed as they claim they’ve been shut out from the negotiating process.

“No one is happy with this. We understand that it is not good for us and that it harms Israeli interests. What is troubling is that Israel cannot influence it. Its voice is not being heard,” a senior Israeli official told Ynet.

The deal, a Memorandum of Understanding with the Islamic Republic, would call for a 60-day cease-fire as the two sides hash out remaining issues surrounding Iran’s nuclear program.

Trump claimed the Iranian regime no longer wants a nuclear weapon, and boasted that the deal would serve as a wall between the supreme leader and a nuke.

The deal would involve the US gradually lifting sanctions on Tehran as it takes steps to dismantle its nuclear program, senior Trump administration officials said.

“We have structured this in a way where it’s not built around trust, it’s built around physical milestones, it’s built around action, and it’s built around verification,” an administration official told reporters Friday.

Israeli officials worry that the deal could limit their freedom of action in Lebanon and could infuse billions of dollars into the Iranian regime’s coffers at a time when the Islamic Republic is at its weakest.

The Israeli official blasted the agreement as “not a good deal.”

Mexican police investigate body found outside Tijuana stadium where Iran prepares for World Cup

Mexican authorities are investigating how a corpse ended up outside a stadium in the border city of Tijuana, where Iran’s national team has been training for its upcoming World Cup match against New Zealand

Mexican authorities are investigating how a corpse ended up outside a stadium in the border city of Tijuana, where Iran’s national team has been training for its upcoming World Cup match against New Zealand.

Officials said they found the corpse on Friday in a parking lot across from Tijuana’s Estadio Caliente stadium. The body was inside a bag in the trunk of a gray vehicle, which was opened by police due to its pungent smell.

Iran’s national squad is using Tijuana as its base during the World Cup due to visa delays, as well as travel restrictions imposed on the team’s administrative staff and coaches. The team will travel to Los Angeles next week for its first group stage match against New Zealand’s All Whites.

Tijuana is one of Mexico’s 10 most violent cities, according to the Citizen’s Council of Public Security, a Mexican think tank that makes an annual listing of murder rates in Mexico. Last year, the city government recorded 1,219 homicides in a city of more than 2.3 million residents, noting a 32% reduction from the number of murders recorded in the city in 2024.

Tijuana is located along Mexico’s Pacific coast, next to the U.S. border. The area has long been used by criminal groups to smuggle drugs and has recently hosted thousands of migrants who have been denied entry into the United States.

US strike against Tren de Aragua leader in Venezuela exemplifies Trump’s approach to war on drugs

BOGOTA, Colombia — The U.S. military attack in Venezuela Friday that killed the leader of the Tren de Aragua gang reflects a strategic shift by U.S. President Donald Trump toward direct U.S. involvement in the war on drugs that began earlier this year, with a special focus this time on gaining access to Venezuela’s lucrative mining sector, analysts told The Associated Press.

Trump announced Friday the death of gang leader Hector Rusthenford Guerrero in an airstrike on his compound in rural Venezuela. He has long accused Guerrero’s organization, also known as TDA, of terrorizing communities across the United States, where it has been linked to extortion rackets, drug trafficking and illegal immigration.

The group was listed as a foreign terrorist organization by the State Department last year, with federal prosecutors accusing Guerrero of shipping drugs to the U.S. and organizing acts of terror across borders, including the murder of a Venezuelan dissident in Chile.

Venezuela’s government said in a statement Friday that it worked with the U.S. to kill the gang leader, also known as El Niño Guerrero, and described the airstrike as part of a “joint operation” to fight organized crime.

Venezuela’s government said the strike occurred in southeastern Bolivar state, an area where various criminal groups, including Colombian rebels, have been running illegal gold mines for more than a decade.

Venezuelan authorities ramped up operations against illegal mining this week, with helicopters shooting at wildcat miners to try to get them to clear the area’s open-pit mines.

Bram Ebus, a consultant for the International Crisis Group who researches organized crime in the Amazon basin, said that the recent operations, including the attack on Guerrero’s compound, could be part of a broader push to pave the way for foreign investment in Venezuela’s mining sector, which has long been hampered by the presence of criminal groups.

After the Trump administration arrested Venezuela’s then-President Nicolas Maduro in January during a pre-dawn raid, Venezuela’s interim government has passed laws that facilitate foreign investment in the oil and mining industries.

“We know that Venezuela’s minerals, including gold and critical minerals, are on the menu of Trump,” Ebus said. “This operation cannot be seen apart from Washington’s bigger push to access Venezuela’s natural resources.”

The U.S. has long supported law enforcement agencies in Latin American countries, including Colombia and Mexico, with training, weapons and logistical support to fight drug cartels and organized crime.

“Instead of aiding other militaries to carry out operations, they are now happy to carry out these attacks on their own,” said Adam Isacson, national security expert at the Washington Office on Latin America, a foreign policy think tank based in Washington, referring to the Trump administration.

The U.S. recently launched joint military operations with Ecuador’s government against drug traffickers near the Colombian border, while Trump has repeatedly pressed Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum to allow the U.S. to conduct strikes against drug cartels in Mexico. The New York Times reported in May that Guatemala agreed to let the U.S. conduct strikes on its territory, which the Guatemalan president denied.

Trump-aligned Latin American governments could allow direct U.S. strikes against criminal groups in their territory in the following months — if courts in those countries allow it, Isacson said. But this approach poses risks.

“U.S. personnel could be killed or hurt,” he said. “There’s also the risk that the U.S. could get its intelligence wrong and kill innocent citizens of other countries on their soil, or that U.S. personnel could be working hand in glove with militaries that are carrying out human rights abuses in the same operation.”

Isacson explained that while killing Tren de Aragua’s kingpin serves as a victory for the Trump administration, there is no clarity on how the group’s finances or its links to corrupt officials have been affected.

“The kingpin strategy has been questioned for decades now,” Isacson said. “U.S. prisons are full of cartel leaders, from ‘El Chapo’ Guzman to the leaders of the Cali Cartel, and the amount of drugs produced has only increased or stayed the same.”

Tren de Aragua is a minor player in the global cocaine industry involved in drug shipments leaving Venezuela, so analysts don’t expect the killing to drastically change the flow of drugs to the U.S. TDA also takes a cut from illegal gold mining.

Isacson said that outside of Venezuela, the group engages in less profitable crimes, such as extortion and human trafficking.

Thousands march in Rome in anti- and pro-migration rallies

ROME — Tens of thousands of people marched through the streets of the Italian capital in anti- and pro- migration demonstrations Saturday, after a far-right citizens’ initiative seeking sweeping measures against migrants garnered enough support to be brought to Parliament.

A petition by the initiative, named “Remigration and Reconquest,” gathered the 50,000 signatures needed to trigger parliamentary discussion, pushing the once-fringe concept of “remigration” into the political mainstream. No date has been scheduled yet for a vote.

The proposal, promoted by right-wing groups, calls for sweeping measures targeting foreigners, including coercive returns, incentives to leave Italy and broader policies critics say could extend to legal residents.

Several thousand demonstrators from around Italy gathered for the anti-migration march, singing the national anthem. On several occasions, many of them raised their arms in the fascist salute, shouting “Duce! Duce!,” a reference to Italian dictator Benito Mussolini, who ruled Italy from 1922 to 1943.

A rival, pro-migration demonstration saw tens of thousands of people take to the streets in another part of Rome Saturday evening. That march was attended by various left-wing groups and trade unions, with some demonstrators waving Palestinian flags.

Thousands of police were deployed to ensure the two rival groups would remain apart. No violence was reported.

The debate on migration represents a delicate balancing act for Premier Giorgia Meloni’s right-wing coalition. While the anti-migration League has backed opening discussion, Meloni’s Brothers of Italy and centrist allies have been more cautious about endorsing a proposal linked to extremist circles, amid concerns over legal risks and internal divisions.

Critics, including opposition parties and legal experts, argue the proposal would violate constitutional and international anti-discrimination principles by targeting people based on ethnic background, including naturalized citizens and their descendants.

The controversy comes even as Meloni’s government pursues a parallel policy of expanding legal migration, having approved a multiyear plan to admit hundreds of thousands of non-EU workers to address labor shortages in key economic sectors.

The demonstrations in Rome a day after a new set of European Union rules came into effect governing how each of the bloc’s 27 member states will deal with irregular migration and asylum seekers.

The European Migration and Asylum Pact is the culmination of years of grueling negotiations that overhauled the previous system, which was widely considered a failure and gave far-right parties a potent issue to win votes.
