Cameron Boozer did not hold back when asked about his thoughts on his 2026 NBA Draft projection.
Boozer is widely expected to be the third selection in the draft to the Grizzlies — likely being picked after AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson on Tuesday night at Barclays Center.
The Duke phenom made an appearance on ESPN’s red carpet special and was asked by Kendrick Perkins if he felt he should be the No. 1 pick.
“Of course I feel that way. I’m not gonna say I understand why people say that. Those two guys are amazing players, everyone knows that,” Boozer said.
“But I mean for me, not being in that conversation, I don’t understand it. Many years down the line, people are gonna look back and say I should’ve been [the No. 1 pick].”
Boozer averaged 22.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.1 assists while shooting 55.6 percent from the field and 39.1 percent from 3 in his one season with the Blue Devils. leading the team to the Elite Eight, where they were shocked by UConn on a miracle last-second shot.
Despite the exclusion from the No. 1 pick conversation, Boozer pulled up to the two-day event in style.
Boozer, the son of former Lakers forward Carlos Boozer, arrived to the first round of the draft in an all-white suit, likely an ode to LeBron James’ all-white outfit from the 2003 NBA Draft.
Dybansta was a fan of the outfit, saying: “I think he look like Bron in ’03.”
