Even as modern technologies are transforming healthcare, they can never replace a doctor’s human touch, said Health, Medical and Family Welfare Principal Secretary S. Suresh Kumar.
Participating in National Doctors’ Day celebrations commemorating the birth anniversary of eminent physician, researcher and freedom fighter Dr. B.C. Roy, at the Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences (Dr. NTRUHS) in Vijayawada on Wednesday, Mr. Suresh Kumar said a doctor’s profession is the noblest, and their success lies in serving patients with compassion.
He urged doctors to combine technological advancements with compassion to provide better healthcare services to the public and also to work towards achieving the Swarna Andhra Vision-2047.
Dr. NTRUHS Vice Chancellor P. Chandrasekhar requested the Union government to revive the Dr. B.C. Roy Awards, which were previously presented to doctors who demonstrated exceptional excellence.
Later, Mr. Suresh Kumar unveiled a bronze statue of Dr. B.C. Roy, which had been installed on the university campus, and felicitated 10 distinguished doctors for their outstanding contributions to the medical field.
