We loved (and lost) Dwight White, played by Ray McKinnon. We just met businessman Zane Nash, played by Marlon Young. And Episode 7, “Den of Sin,” took us back in time to August 1981 to shed more light on young Beulah’s relationship with her babysitter/Joaquin’s father Mariano (Bobby Soto). In showing crucial events from their pasts, Dutton Ranch also introduced a whole new flashback cast…

The star of the show even back then, of course, was young Beulah Jackson. The flashback opens with Mariano dropping her off on a girl’s night out at Billy Bob’s Texas Honky Tonk bar for mechanical bull riding, dancing, and live music. And the flashback ended in murder…

Dutton Ranch Episode 7 Flashbacks Explained:
Before Beulah heads off on her big night out, she kisses her babysitter Mariano on the cheek and thanks him for the ride. Instead of leaving, he heads inside as well and posts up at the bar drinking only coffee and diligently keeping an eye on Beulah from afar. “I’m on the clock, mam, babysitting my boss’ daughter,” he tells the bartender who asks if he wants a stronger drink.
As Beulah and her friends are standing near the dance floor, a handsome boy named Luke (Cameron Cowperthwaite) flirts with her and after they dance for a while, the bartender hands Mariano a beer and tries to talk him up. When she learns he has a wife and a son, Joaquin, however, she reveals that Luke paid her $20 to distract him. Why? So he could take off with Beulah!
Mariano races outside to catch them but he’s too late, he drives down the road and finds Beulah standing outside with a bloody nose, dress torn off, and one boot. It’s implied that she was sexually assaulted by Luke, but she makes Mariano promise to tell her dad she was thrown off a mechanical bull. Later in the episode, Mariano finds an emotional Beulah sitting on the bathroom floor with a positive pregnancy test. He comforts her and agrees to drive her to see Luke so she can tell him he’s going to be a father, but when Beulah walks inside she shoots and kills Luke, emerging from his trailer with the other boot she lost that traumatic night.
It’s unclear if Beulah went forward with her pregnancy after that, but considering the timeline, it’s likely Rob-Will was have been her and Luke’s son. Was the pregnancy (or the murder) the reason Mariano — who seemingly cared for Beulah like a daughter — left the picture and left Joaquin to her? Young Beulah in Dutton Ranch flashbacks is played by Rebeca Robles, a Panamanian-American actor, director, and producer from Columbia, South Carolina. According to her website, she “completed her MFA in Acting from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale,” and per IMDb, she has nearly 30 film and television credits since 2013.
Prior to her role in Dutton Ranch, Robles starred in everything from Hope Bridge and Reprisal to Ambitions, TableTalk, and more. Yellowstone fans know that Taylor Sheridan loves a good flashback, so here’s hoping we haven’t seen the last of Robles as young Beulah.
