A gun battle erupted on a Bronx street in the early afternoon Wednesday — leaving an elderly woman and a young man injured, cops and sources said.

The woman, 79, and a 26-year-old man were each shot in their left leg around 1:20 p.m. at University Avenue and West 183rd Street in University Heights, police said.

The wounded man appeared to have been exchanging gunfire with someone else when the innocent senior was caught in the crossfire, law enforcement sources said.
