Putting the peace in the Gulf in question, US President Donald Trump on Friday blasted Iran for “attacking” ships and termed it a violation the ceasefire agreement. A strike was reported on at least four vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
The US and Iran are negotiating a peace deal after the two sides signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
Trump posted on his Truth Social that “The Islamic Republic of Iran shot at least four One Way Attack Drones at Ships transversing the Strait of Hormuz. …We knocked down three other Drones. Obviously, this is a foolish violation of our Ceasefire Agreement.”

Detailing the damage done by the reported Iranian strikes, the US President said that one drone “solidly hit the upper deck of a large and very expensive Cargo Carrying Ship”. Damage was done, but the Ship was able to proceed on its way.
Tehran’s alleged attack on Ever Lovely
US officials have alleged that the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps attacked the Singapore-flagged cargo ship Ever Lovely with a drone while exiting the Strait of Hormuz.
According to reports, the vessel was struck near Oman. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said the ship was hit by a projectile in the area.
Meanwhile, Trump, on the day of the incident, speaking at a Rose Garden dinner, claimed that, “We knocked the hell out of them, and now we’re negotiating from a position of pure strength.”

He further claimed that Iran wanted to reach a deal “very badly” and added, “they will not have a nuclear weapon. And they’ve agreed to that.”
Tehran’s stance on the Strait of Hormuz
Tehran on Friday reaffirmed its position on the Strait of Hormuz, warning Gulf states against aligning with the US. Iran described the joint statement made by the US and six Gulf states rejecting its proposed vessel charged as “interventionist, irresponsible and provocative.”
Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi on X posted, “Safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz cannot be guaranteed under ambiguous arrangements, parallel routed or decision-making that does not take Iran’s role as a coastal state into account.”
