Kadapa administration slaps PD Act on red sanders smuggler

The Kadapa district administration slapped Preventive Detention (PD) Act on an inter-State red sanders smuggler, who allegedly has five cases in various police station limits, including a POCSO case.

A native of Khadarpalli village in Chapadu mandal of Kadapa district, 25-year-old Shaik Shafi reportedly resorted to felling and smuggling red sanders logs by using his contacts with smugglers in Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. According to sources, he was accused of being personally involved in allegedly bringing labourers to chop full-grown trees in Badvel, Atlur, Veeraballi, Sundupalli and Guvvalacheruvu ghat areas.

Based on the recommendations of Superintendent of Police (SP) Nachiket Shelke, Kadapa Collector Sreedhar Cherukuri issued orders to this effect on Tuesday.
