It was a monumental moment for Indian rowing as Lakshay and Ujjwal Kumar Singh scripted history by winning the country’s first-ever gold medal at the World Rowing Cup III in Switzerland, said A.P. Rowing and Sculling Association president Kakani Tarun.

The Indian duo clinched the Men’s Lightweight Double Sculls title with a time of 6:26.09, finishing ahead of Hong Kong and the Netherlands. He congratulated the athletes who won big at the Bled Rowing International Regatta 2026.

Mr. Tarun said the State too has huge medal potential in various categories in this sport and urged the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh to provide the required infrastructure.
