The CPI and the CPI (M) will not participate in the meeting-cum-feast to be organised by Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam founder and Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay, though they have been invited to participate in the event. The Left parties, which are supporting the TVK-led government from outside, do not like to give the impression that they are part of the alliance.

“The feast is meant for the allies of the TVK. Since we are supporting the government from outside, we have decided not to take part in it. The Left parties are not part of any alliance now, but our support for the government will continue,” said CPI state secretary M. Veerapandian.

The leaders of the two Left parties, however, would meet the Chief Minister at Secretariat and bring to his attention many pressing issues of the workers and other sections of the society.
