A 30-year-old woman, who had gone missing from her home in Vikarabad district earlier this month, was reunited with her family after being rescued by the Petbasheerabad police and cared for at a shelter home.

The woman, identified as Pinky Bai Gosai, a resident of Gandhinagar in Tandur, had been missing since June 16.

According to the police, local residents found her wandering on June 21 at around noon in a mentally unstable condition and alerted the police by dialling 100.

A team from the Petbasheerabad police responded to the call and brought the woman to the police station. As she was unable to provide any details about her identity or address, officers conducted enquiries in the KV Reddy Nagar and Gundlapochampally areas but were unable to trace her family.

She was subsequently admitted to the Mathrushree Orphanage at Shamirpet for care and protection.

Police said the woman was recently able to recall her personal details and those of her husband. After verifying the information, officers contacted him and reunited the woman with her family on Tuesday.

The Petbasheerabad police said the woman was safely handed over to her husband after completing the necessary verification procedures.
