Fans have complaints about the shade of orange donned by the Dutch World Cup team.

The Netherlands kicked off their tournament on Sunday with a draw against Japan, but their kits were the biggest topic of conversation. Fans online complained that their jerseys’ shade of orange is so fluorescent that it was difficult to make out the names and numbers on their shirts, even though they’re written in black.

One fan commented: “This shade of Netherlands kit is a level of orange I’ve never seen before this s–t ain’t orange. They made a new color.”

“The Dutch kit has never been as orange as this my eyes hurt already,” another agreed.

“Blimey, that Dutch kit is a bit orange! My tele is struggling with it,” someone bemoaned.

“Is it me or is the Netherlands kit on TV a radioactive orange, proper eye sore.”

The orange is synonymous with the Netherlands. It’s the national team’s trademark color to go along with its nickname, Oranje. Orange is the color of the Dutch royal family, the House of Orange-Nassau.

This year’s Nike home kit is entirely orange, except for the black numbers and names along with small accents. The shirt, shorts and even socks are all the same saturated shade of orange.

Netherlands played to a disappointing 2-2 draw against Japan in their first match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday in a Group F matchup. They blew a lead twice in the match, marking the first time they have ever failed to win a World Cup game after taking the lead twice.

They extended their unbeaten streak in group stage games to 17, already a record for the present day.
