The Arizona TV station that received some of the Nancy Guthrie ransom notes confirmed grim reports that one claimed she’d died – clarifying conflicting reports over the unpleasant possibility.

ABC News on Monday confirmed the contents of the chilling note, explaining it said 84-year-old Nancy had died and been “buried in nature” after her Feb. 1 kidnapping.

A Monday story from Air Mail previously reported the heartbreaking detail – only for TMZ, which also received a series of ransom notes, to dispute the claims that they directly said Nancy had died.

ABC News, however, revealed the specific contents of the note Monday after Air Mail’s report – insisting the note did in fact claim Nancy had died.

It was the second in a series of notes from the supposed kidnapper which made the claims, with the first demanding a $4 million payment in return for Nancy’s release.

The second then claimed she had died.

Nancy’s daughter – “TODAY Show” host Savannah Guthrie – released a heartbreaking video on social media after the second note was received.

“We received your message and we understand,” Savannah Guthrie said at the time. “We beg you now to return our mother to us,” she said in the clip. “This is very valuable to us, and we will pay.”

It remains unclear whether Nancy actually died, or whether the ransom notes came from the kidnappers.

This is a breaking story. Please check back for updates.
