An NYPD sergeant was struck by a suspect in a stolen car during a multi-borough chase Sunday evening — before another officer shot the unwieldy suspect, according to sources.
The sergeant was hit by the stolen vehicle on East Fordham Road in the Bronx just before 6 p.m., law enforcement sources said.

The collision — which caused the officer to go flying — happened as police tried to pull over the car, which they had been following from Manhattan into the Bronx, sources added.
After the officer was thrown by the vehicle, another cop pulled out a gun and shot a suspect, according to the sources. It’s not immediately known whether there were multiple people inside the car.
The cop who was plowed into sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the assault, though the exact details of his condition are not immediately clear. A second officer was also taken to the hospital with injuries related to tinnitus.

The alleged carjacker was transported to Jacobi Hospital, and his condition is not yet known.
The NYPD posted on X to urge residents to avoid the vicinity of East Fordham Road between Marion Avenue and Decatur Avenue and to expect “delays and heavy traffic in the area.”
