If you didn’t get to see the buzzy new horror movie Obsession in theaters, great news: You can now, finally, buy or rent Obsession on digital.
Written and directed by Curry Barker (best known for his 2024 found-footage horror film Milk & Serial), Obsession stars Michael Johnston as a young romantic named Bear, who works at a music shop alongside his childhood bestie, Nikki (break-out star Inde Navarrette). Bear laments that he’s stuck in the friend zone with Nikki. So when he happens upon a supernatural object in a New Age store that purports to grant him a wish, he wishes for Nikki to fall in love with him. And boy, does he get what he wished for! As it turns out, it’s not so fun having a girl be obsessed with you.
Thanks to a word-of-mouth campaign from horror fans who loved the film, Obsession was a huge box office hit, earning over $371 million at the worldwide box office, and becoming Focus Features’ highest-grossing film of all time. Now that the film is on digital, even more people will be watching the movie at home. But if you’d rather not spend too much to watch Obsession at home, then read on to fight out when and where Obsession will be streaming on a subscription-based streamer for free.
Where to watch the Obsession movie at home:
Obsession is now available to buy and rent digitally on Amazon Prime, Apple TV, Fandango At Home, and more. The price may vary depending on which platform you use to purchase the film, but on Amazon Prime the film costs $24.99 to buy a digital copy, and $19.99 to rent. If you rent the movie, you’ll have 48 hours to watch the movie after hitting “play.”
The digital release comes with a 19-minute bonus feature, “OBSESSION Unleashed,” which goes “behind the scenes with filmmaker Curry Barker and the cast to see them create a wild horror story out of intense performances and shocking scares.”
It also comes with an audio commentary with writer/director Curry Barker. (Bonus features may vary depending on which platform you use to buy or rent the movie.)
Obsession will also be released on 4K UHD and Blu-ray™ on July 14, 2026.
Where will Obsession be streaming?
Obsession is not yet streaming on any subscription streaming services, but we do expect to see Obsession streaming on Peacock soon, because Obsession is a Focus Features release, which is owned by NBCUniversal, and Peacock is the NBCUniversal streaming service.
Peacock currently offers two subscription types: Premium with ads and Premium Plus ad-free. Peacock Premium costs $10.99/month, while Premium Plus costs $16.99/month.
You can save a bit by subscribing to one of Peacock’s annual plans, which give you 12 months for the price of 10. These cost either $109.99 with ads or $169.99 without ads.
Peacock Premium Plus is also available to subscribe to via Prime Video with a seven-day free trial that you can’t get by subscribing directly on Peacock.
When will the Obsession movie be streaming on Peacock?
You might see Obsession streaming on Peacock around mid-September 2026.
The Obsession movie streaming release date on Peacock has not yet been announced, but you will likely see Obsession streaming on Peacock in late summer or early fall 2026. Another Universal horror release, Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, began streaming on Peacock about four months after the movie opened in theaters. But some movies, like MEGAN 2.0 came to Peacock after just three months.
If Obsession follows a similar release pattern as FNAF 2, you might see it streaming on Peacock around mid-September 2026. That said, other Universal movies have taken just three, or even two months to come to Peacock, so you may see Obsession on Peacock even earlier, around August 2026.
You will also eventually be able to stream Obsession on Prime Video, free with a Prime subscription, four months after the movie streams on Peacock.
When will the Obsession movie be streaming on Amazon Prime Video?
You might see Obsession streaming on Prime, free to subscribers, around February 2027.
This is thanks to the deal between Universal and Amazon that sends Universal movies to Peacock for the first four months of the “Pay 1 window,” then to Amazon Prime Video for the next months of the window, followed by four more months on Peacock. If our prediction for when Obsession will be on Peacock is correct, then you should see Obsession streaming on Prime around February 2027.
