Officials urged to expedite atrocity cases in Konaseema district

Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Konaseema District Joint Collector Waikhom Nydia Devi on Saturday (June 27, 2026) directed the officials to expedite the pending cases related to atrocities against Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.

The District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee on atrocities reviewed the status of 34 cases registered under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989, as well as the release of compensation for the victims. Of the 34 atrocity cases, First Information Reports have been filed in 23 cases, while the rest are still under investigation. The victims in the 23 cases have received ₹13.25 lakh in compensation.

District Revenue Officer V. Subba Rao, Assistant Superintendent of Police M. Mahendra and other officials were present.
