A Phillies fan thought he was being slick when he threw back a home run ball during a game against the Mets on Sunday.

But he got caught in 4K.

After Carson Benge’s home run, the NBC broadcast showed the fan in a Bryce Harper jersey celebrating his new souvenir. Fans of the home team often throw home run balls hit by the visitors back onto the field, especially in rivalry games.

This fan decided to play to his fellow Phillies fans, but not before reaching down near his seat to grab a different baseball, throwing the stand-in onto the outfield grass while he kept the Benge ball in his glove.

“Shame on you,” one of the broadcasters said. “Caught him red handed.”

The Benge home run was one of very few highlights for the Mets in their 6-2 loss as they dropped the series, falling to 34-43.

David Peterson’s struggles continued as he allowed five runs (four earned) in four innings on six hits and two walks while striking out five.

The 30-year-old, who earned his first All-Star nod last season, has a 6.09 ERA in 68 innings this year split between eight starts and eight relief appearances.

Things won’t get any easier for the Mets as they return home for a seven-game homestand against the Cubs and Phillies.

The Mets have stood by manager Carlos Mendoza as their big-money roster has floundered.

Meanwhile, after the Phillies fired Rob Thomson in April while sitting at 9-19, they’ve gone 33-16 and currently occupy the second wild-card spot in the National League. They’re 6.5 games behind the Braves for first place in the NL East.

The Mets are six games back of the last wild-card spot but they’d have to jump seven teams to get there.
