Vellore Kamban Kazhagam, in association with the Department of Tamil, Voorhees College, celebrated the birth anniversary of Tamil poet and lyricist Kaviyarasar Kannadasan at a function held in Vellore.

A press release said G.V. Selvam, president, Vellore Kamban Kazhagam and VIT vice-president, presided over the function. “Poet Kannadasan remains one of the greatest literary figures, whose timeless contributions to Tamil literature, philosophy, and film lyrics continue to inspire generations,” he said.

“Kannadasan’s songs have a lot of life lessons for people to follow. His every song has a message for people and a lot of philosophy. He has seen a lot of ups and downs in his life, but he continued to march onward to greater success in his life and career,” he said.

As part of the celebrations, a literary debate was held under the chairmanship of Professor Abdul Khader. The debate saw lively participation and insightful discussions on the literary brilliance and lasting legacy of Kannadasan, the release added.
