‘Promoting experiential science education to build future-ready students’

Emphasising the need to transform science education through experiential learning, ILM Foundation on Saturday organised an interactive outreach programme at its Science Academy in Narayanaguda here for representatives of nearly 40 schools from Hyderabad and neighbouring districts.

The programme focused on promoting scientific thinking, inquiry-based learning and problem-solving skills as essential competencies for preparing students to meet future challenges. During interactive sessions, educators discussed innovative approaches to strengthen STEM education through student workshops, teacher professional development, science laboratories, science kits and hands-on learning methodologies.

A live science show by senior faculty members featuring demonstrations on Lenz’s Law, centrifugal force, sound, chemical reactions and microscopic observation of plant and animal cells showcased how complex scientific concepts can be made engaging and accessible through hands-on learning, drawing enthusiastic participation from educators.

School representatives toured the Academy’s advanced Physics, Chemistry and Biology laboratories, where they observed modern scientific equipment and learning resources designed to support experiential education.

Addressing the participants, founder of ILM Foundation Lateef Atear and programme director Sravanthi said science education must move beyond rote learning and provide students with opportunities to explore, experiment and discover concepts through practical experiences. They stressed that nurturing curiosity, creativity and analytical thinking is critical for developing the next generation of innovators and responsible problem-solvers.
