Advice memos issued on the basis of the Kerala Public Service Commission’s (PSC) published rank list for posts in the State Planning Board should be cancelled, Minister for Youth Affairs O.J. Janeesh has said.
The PSC has ordered a probe into the allegations regarding the process of valuation and preparation of rank lists for three chief-level posts in the board. It is alleged questions had been left unevaluated in the answer scripts of candidates.
“The lapses in the PSC evaluation are serious. The claim that 10 questions were not evaluated during on-screen marking (OSM) is unacceptable. Only after a row erupted did the PSC announce a probe by its internal vigilance wing,” the Minister said in a statement on Wednesday.
He said he did not trust the internal probe. An officer in the rank of Inspector General of Police should conduct the investigation under the State Police Chief’s supervision. A screening was needed into tests conducted by the PSC in the past 10 years, Mr. Janeesh said.
No one should lose opportunities in such a manner. The delay of a year in obtaining answer scripts after submitting applications should be avoided, he said
Mr. Janeesh who is also the State president of the Youth Congress said the Youth Congress would meet the Chief Minister to highlight these issues.
He pointed that after becoming a Minister, a majority of pleas he received pertained to alleged irregularities in PSC exams and failure to give appointments. The PSC, he said, had been misused politically. “The CPI(M) has destroyed the trust in the PSC,” he said.
