Andhra Pradesh Road Safety Authority Chairman and senior IPS officer M. Pratap marked the final day of his 35-year career before retirement with an emotional tribute to his late IPS batchmate, Umesh Chandra.
Cycling from the DGP Headquarters in Mangalagiri to Mr. Umesh Chandra’s statue in Tenali on Tuesday (June 30, 2026), Mr. Pratap dedicated the police uniform he had worn throughout his service to honour the fallen officer, who was killed while combating terrorism and organised crime.
Several police personnel joined the commemorative ride. Earlier, Mr. Pratap visited his former teachers to seek their blessings. Rising from a humble farming family to become the State’s top police officer, he served in several key positions, earning recognition for his integrity, discipline, and commitment to public service.
