Can I get a “yee-haw”?!

The highly-anticipated third season of The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys finally premiered on Bravo this week. If you’re new to reality television, The McBee Dynasty is a look into the private and professional lives of a family’s highs and lows running their cattle ranch. In addition to their farm, the family owns several businesses, including McBee Meat Company and McBee’s Coffee N Carwash in Gallatin, Missouri. In typical fashion, the family completes their empire with a reality show. Watch out, Kardashians!

Fans of Bravo’s hit reality show can expect to see plenty of drama in the premiere, which was released on Monday (June 15). Many were eager to see how the episode would tackle patriarch Steve McBee Sr.‘s legal battles.

During a conversation with DECIDER during Season 2, Steven McBee Jr. opened up about withholding information about his father’s legal troubles to his brothers, “I also think I should have told you guys earlier because I had some crash-outs and some very tense moments leading up to that. You guys were probably like, ‘why is he freaking out about something so small?’ It wasn’t any specific moment; it was knowing what all was going on behind the scenes.”

So, what did Steven Sr. do? What were his consequences?

Why is Steve McBee Sr. in Prison?

From the first second of the Season 3 premiere, the family addresses their father’s absence. According to BravoTV, Steve Sr. pleaded guilty to one count of federal crop insurance. Later, he “admitted that he engaged in fraudulent activity from 2018 to 2022 that caused an economic loss to the U.S. Department of Agriculture,” per a statement from the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Missouri.

The premiere picks up with the family 24 hours before Steve Sr.’s sentencing.
