The Devil Wears Prada 2, a 20-years-later sequel to the beloved 2006 hit, did something unprecedented this year: It became one of the few movies to kick off the summer movie season from the first weekend of May not as an action, adventure, or sci-fi/fantasy film, but as a modestly scaled (if obviously well-styled) comedy-drama about people with real-world (if still obviously ultra-glam) jobs.
The sequel, reuniting original stars Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt, catches up with Andy Sachs (Hathaway) as an accomplished but somewhat desperate journalist who has just been laid off from her job, and is lured back to Runway, where she once worked as an overwhelmed assistant, to rescue the magazine’s flailing reputation without resorting to cheap clickbait. This puts her back in the crosshairs of editor-in-chief Miranda Priestly (Streep), who attempts to maintain control of her magazine while issuing more of her trademark withering zingers. More than the first movie, this is a story about the dire state of the media industry in 2026. For certain viewers, parts of it may play more like a horror film.
There’s still plenty of wish fulfillment, and audiences were clearly happy to see these characters again. The Devil Wears Prada 2 went on to make more money than last year’s Marvel-made summer-kickoff movie Thunderbolts, and also outgrossed its Disney stablemate The Mandalorian & Grogu. It’s currently standing as the biggest-grossing movie of the summer so far, even if Toy Story 5 (another Disney release) seems poised to take over.
This is all to say that The Devil Wears Prada 2 is winding down its theatrical run, expected to dip below 1,000 screens (the rough threshold for a moderately wide release in the U.S.) as Toy Story 5 takes up a bunch of multiplex space this weekend. As such, those who may have missed it in theaters might be wondering how and when they might be able to stream the movie at home.
Where To Watch The Devil Wears Prada 2 Right Now:

When Will The Devil Wears Prada 2 Be Available To Stream At Home?
After leading the way in making some of their 2021 releases available for premium VOD rental simultaneously with their theatrical debuts, Disney has scaled way back on their embrace of PVOD. Recent titles from Fox, the Disney subsidiary that released Devil Wears Prada 2, like Ella McCay and Send Help, took about eight weeks from their theatrical debut to their PVOD release. (Some studios do this turnaround in about a month, especially for a box office flop like Ella McCay.)
This means that The Devil Wears Prada 2 should be hitting PVOD right around the end of June or beginning of July, which makes sense; by that time, it will only be playing in a few hundred theaters, if that.
Will The Devil Wears Prada 2 Be On Netflix?
The Devil Wears Prada 2 won’t initially stream on Netflix. While anything can happen in the future, there are no immediate plans for The Devil Wears Prada 2 to drop on Netflix upon its release.
When And Where Will The Devil Wears Prada 2 Be Streaming?
Because Devil Wears Prada 2 is a Fox movie, its immediate streaming home will likely be Hulu, though Disney+ is also a possibility. Because many subscribers use both services as one, and some titles appear on both, it can be tricky to figure out which movies will go where. Hulu is generally more associated with Fox movies, while Disney+ (by itself) features more movies from the Disney brand.
The turnaround time for Hulu/Disney Plus debuts is a little harder to predict than PVOD, because they vary a bit more. To use two recent Fox examples: Ella McCay turned up on Hulu just a couple of weeks after its PVOD debut. Send Help, on the other hand, was a substantial hit, and so it was another six weeks after its PVOD debut before it was released to Hulu.
The recent Avatar sequel took even longer; it came out in theaters back in December and is only reaching Disney+ later this month, for a six-month turnaround. The Devil Wears Prada 2 is a bigger hit than Send Help but not quite Avatar-sized, so it seems fair to estimate that it will land somewhere in between. This would put it on Hulu sometime around the latter half of August. That would be an appropriate timeline, as it would allow streaming viewers to watch (or rewatch) the summer’s big kickoff movie just as the season winds down.
The movie might eventually be licensed to other streamers like Netflix, but in the immediate future, Hulu is where you’ll be watching The Devil Wears Prada 2 if you missed it in theaters.
