A 49-year-old woman was killed and her 22-year-old son sustained grievous injuries after a speeding SUV rammed into their scooter from rear in Bahadurpally under the Dundigal police station limits on Monday (June 29, 2026).
The deceased was identified as Uday Latha Reddy, who died on the spot due to the impact of the collision. Her son, Vedanth Reddy, suffered grievous injuries and was shifted to a nearby private hospital for treatment. His condition is stated to be stable.
The accident was reported around 1 p.m. when the mother and son were travelling from Kompally to Bahadurpally on their scooter. The SUV was travelling in the same direction when it hit the two-wheeler from the rear.
According to Dundigal Police Inspector P. Sateesh, the SUV was being driven at high speed at the time of the accident. The driver has been taken into custody and is being questioned in connection with the case. A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
