Worker found dead in factory in Belagavi

A 24-year-old employee of Hindalco Industries was found dead on the factory premises in Belagavi on Wednesday leading to ransacking of the factory premises by his family members and relatives.

The deceased has been identified as Shankar Talawar, a resident of Mutyanatti village, who was working with the company for the last six years.

Stating that workplace harassment was the reason for his death, Shankar’s family members and residents of his village rushed to the factory premises and ransacked factory property leading to a tense situation for some time.

The police, who rushed to the spot, immediately brought the situation under control and as a precautionary measure, deployed additional police force around the factory.

MLA Asif Sait, Deputy Commissioner Mohammed Roshan and Police Commissioner Bhushan Borse visited the spot.

In a note found that was found by the police, the deceased worker has mentioned about injustice to local youths in the company and money being sought for regularisation of employment.

He has also said that those who have taken money for regularisation of jobs have not returned it.
