Celtic voice frustration over Monday title opener against Dundee

Celtic have voiced their disappointment after it was announced they will start their Scottish Premiership title defence on a Monday evening, due to a combination of the Commonwealth Games and two Calvin Harris concerts.

The Scottish champions say they made “repeated representations” to the SPFL and Police Scotland to ensure a weekend fixture but were told there was “no choice” but to have their opener against Dundee on 3 August (19:30 BST).

There will be Glasgow 2026 cycling events at the Sir Chris Hoy Arena – next to Celtic Park – over the weekend of 1 and 2 August, while Harris will stage two large concerts at Hampden on the same days.

The 2026-27 term begins on Friday 31 July, with Dundee United hosting Rangers.

Hearts – last term’s runners-up – visit Aberdeen on the Saturday, with Falkirk and St Mirren also meeting that day.

There are two games on Sunday, as newly-promoted St Johnstone mark their return against Kilmarnock in Perth before Hibernian entertain Motherwell.

The first Old Firm derby will be on Sunday 20 September at Celtic Park (12:00).

There will be a Dundee derby at Dens Park during the third round of fixtures, while Edinburgh rivals Hibs and Hearts will go head-to-head at Easter Road on Wednesday 2 September.

New Rangers manager Derek McInnes will return to Tynecastle on Wednesday 28 October after his departure from Hearts.

Once again, there is no room in the schedule for a winter break.

Fixture round 33 arrives on 10 April, with the five rounds of post-split games ending on the weekend of 15/16 May.

Last season was one of the most dramatic in recent memory as Celtic clinched a fifth straight title by beating Hearts in the final few minutes of the last game.

‘Elf’ star Faizon Love insisted he could not afford child support payment ahead of arrest

“Elf” star Faizon Love claimed he was unable to pay the child support he owed ahead of his Tuesday arrest.

The actor insisted in court documents earlier this year that he could not come up with the $250,000 he allegedly owes a woman named Tiffany Lee, according to TMZ.

The 58-year-old claimed he had not earned a single cent in the last 12 months — and that his highest gross income over the last five years was $13,000.

Additionally, Love defended skipping out on an April hearing in the child support case.

He claimed to have been suffering from a medical emergency at the time, per the outlet.

The “Couples Retreat” star, who was ordered at the time to turn himself in for 90 days behind bars, was arrested Tuesday night in Florida’s Hillsborough County.

He was charged with two counts of contempt of court, according to records viewed by The Post.

Love, who lives in Glendale, California, is being held without bond at Orient Road Jail in Tampa.

In his mug shot, he stared stone-faced at the camera in an orange jumpsuit.

Love’s lawyer did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

Tuesday’s detainment was not Love’s first run-in with the law.

Most recently, he was accused of felony assault in February 2025 after a hotel clerk claimed he slammed a credit card machine into her head and broke her glasses.

The alleged attack took in August 2024.

In July 2025, a judge found sufficient evidence to proceed with the case and scheduled a criminal trial.

Love was also fined $500 and sentenced to a 180-day suspended jail sentence over a 2017 assault at the John Glenn Columbus International Airport in Ohio.

The comedian pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor after he was caught on camera assaulting a valet.

Gunmen attack airport in Niger’s capital as explosions, gunfire heard

Gunmen have attacked the main airport in Niger’s capital, Niamey, leading to gunfire and explosions

DAKAR, Senegal — Gunmen attacked the main airport in Niger’s capital of Niamey early Thursday morning, leading to an exchange of fire and explosions, witnesses and a local security official said.

Security forces were deployed to repel the attack after the gunmen breached the airport security, said the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the situation. It was not immediately clear who the attackers were.

An Associated Press journalist said soldiers were searching people on the road in the aftermath of the gunfire.

It was the second attack at Diori Hamani International Airport in Niamey this year, after the Islamic State group claimed responsibility for a similar attack in January.

Niger, led by a military junta since a 2023 coup, has struggled to contain deadly jihadi violence that has battered parts of Africa’s Sahel region, including neighbors Burkina Faso and Mali that are also run by military juntas.

Church of England apologizes for role in forced adoptions as recent as the mid-1970s

LONDON — The Church of England apologized Thursday for its role in forced adoptions as recent as the mid-1970s, acknowledging the painful experiences of many unmarried women at so-called mother and baby homes in the U.K. that were affiliated with the church.

Archbishop of Canterbury Sarah Mullally, the first woman to lead the church and the person seen as the spiritual leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion, issued the apology as the church released a report on conditions at the homes from 1949 to 1976.

Many women and girls were forced to do menial labor as a form of “correction’’ for having children out of wedlock, and their babies were sometimes described as commodities available to meet the demand for adoption, the report found.

“We are profoundly sorry for the pain, trauma and stigma experienced — and still carried — by many people because of historical adoption practices in homes affiliated to the Church of England,’’ Mullally said. “We have heard firsthand the accounts of mothers who were separated from their babies in circumstances where they had very few meaningful choices.”

During the period covered by the report, about 185,000 children born to unmarried mothers were put up for adoption in England and Wales. It was a time when a “culture of shame, stigma and secrecy” surrounded unmarried mothers and their children, even as attitudes about sex and marriage were beginning to change, the report said.

While church policies emphasized that unmarried women had the right to keep their children and the children had a right to remain with their mothers, staff often ignored this guidance and worked closely with adoption agencies, researchers found.

The guidance “sat alongside language which expressed dehumanizing and dismissive attitudes, falling short of what would be expected towards anyone in the church’s care, not least people who were rendered especially vulnerable by their circumstances,” the report said.

Faena bought the historic Miami home at 4731 Pine Tree Drive for $10.3 million in 2014, according to property records. The sale was first reported in the Real Deal.

Known as Villa Crono Estate, the Mediterranean Revival mansion, which was Faena’s personal residence, was built in 1927 and sits on just under an acre.

Faena extensively renovated the residence and “brought it back to life,” a source who toured it said.

How one school principal achieved her family’s American dream

Through July 4, The Post, in conjunction with the Milken Center for Advancing the American Dream, is featuring US citizens explaining what the American dream means to them in 2026 — including Jayda Pugliese, principal and president of the Nazareth Academy Grade School in Philadelphia.

The American dream has a very deep meaning for me because I come from a background in which both of my parents didn’t graduate from high school.

I have been hearing impaired from a very young age. I would sit in the front of the classes, and I would try to keep up, but I always felt a step behind my peers. It was really my teachers that helped keep me in the loop. I wore hearing aids, but it was still a struggle. And at that age, [I] just didn’t understand the dynamics of being a disabled person in a hearing world …

Jayda Pugliese grew up with a hearing impairment but the condition didn’t stop her from becoming an educator. Milken Center

As I got older, I started speaking a lot when I was in high school about what it meant to be hearing impaired … I was a camp counselor at a deaf camp. I got to really involve myself in the disabled community. And we shouldn’t even call them disabled, because everybody has exceptional abilities.

I graduated with a bachelor’s in special education and I just took off. I just enjoyed every moment of being a special education teacher in the early part of my career. That really gave me an exceptional foundation of teaching and learning, but also being able to relate to students that have any need.

Every student deserves a champion — someone who loves them and cares for them and will build a relationship with them.

Schools deserve teachers that care about education, care about every single child and value their education and understand that every child can learn no matter what.

My parents realized that, in their blue collar jobs, that they weren’t able to move forward the way that they wanted to … but they could [help me] move forward by providing me with the education they felt that I deserved.

I get emotional because — full circle — I’m now the principal of the school that I attended. Education is the foundation of building an American dream.

Three Saudi-flagged supertankers sail through Hormuz after Iran deal signed, data shows

Three Saudi-flagged supertankers with six million barrels of crude onboard sailed through the Strait of Hormuz hours after US President Donald Trump signed a deal with Iran over an end to the conflict, ship tracking data showed on Thursday.

The sailings from Saudi ports were the biggest departures through the strait in weeks, according to Reuters analysis of shipping movements.

Disability activist CEO Samanta Bullock denied boarding JFK British Airways flight over wheelchair

Model and business executive Samanta Bullock claimed she was blocked from boarding a British Airways flight at JFK Airport because she was flying alone while using her wheelchair.

Bullock, the founder of Bullock Inclusion – a company fighting for a more inclusive world, made the shocking revelation when she arrived at the terminal for her flight to London and was allegedly told she wouldn’t be getting on the flight, in what she says was discrimination against her disability.

“I was not denied because of a ticket issue, a safety violation or missing documentation. I was denied because I am disabled and traveling independently,” Bullock wrote on social media Sunday.

“The explanation I was given was shocking. I was told that because I was travelling alone, the crew could not assist me to get to the toilet during the flight and could not evacuate me in an emergency,” she said.

Bullock, 47, says she has traveled alone for many years before she called out the alleged discrimination she faced from airline staffers.

“If disabled people are expected to travel with a companion, that means we must pay for two flights instead of one,” she said. “We are effectively being charged more for the same freedom and opportunities that non-disabled passengers take for granted.”

Following a several-hour ordeal, Bullock was eventually transferred to an American Airlines flight “without being asked” and was interrogated with similar questions that British Airways had asked.

The Brazilian native is now threatening legal action against the airlines because of the airport mayhem.

“I believe this treatment may constitute disability discrimination, and I am exploring legal action to protect my rights and the rights of other disabled travellers,” she wrote. “I have everything documented and recorded and fully will continue this discussion and sue them for all the time and significant discrimination I have suffered.

“Disabled people deserve the same right to travel, work and live independently as everyone else,” she said.

Bullock ironically pointed out that she had just attended the Bullock Inclusion Future of Fashion Show in New York, along with the Conference of States Parties to the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities at the United Nations.

“I had just attended the 19th COSP Conference at the United Nations in New York, where global leaders, advocates, and organizations gathered to discuss and advance the rights of disabled people. They spent days talking about inclusion, accessibility, dignity, and equal rights,” she wrote. “Then I flew home with British Airways and experienced the exact opposite.”

Bullock was a child model and tennis player before she was left paralyzed and needing a wheelchair after a “near-fatal accident involving a firearm” at the age of 14, she wrote on Facebook.

She recovered from the gunshot wound and returned to tennis, becoming the world number one wheelchair tennis player in Brazil, according to her website.

Bullock placed second in the wheelchair tennis doubles at the 2007 Parapan American Games in Rio de Janeiro.

She also performed during the opening ceremony of the 2012 London Paralympic Games, according to Disability Talk.

“We are sorry for our customer’s experience and are urgently looking into what happened. We remain in direct contact with the customer while we review the circumstances,” a British Airways spokesperson told The Post.
