Tennessee woman caught with meth in her pocket baffling excuse to cops

A Tennessee woman busted with meth in her pocket had the strangest excuse imaginable when cops questioned her about the drugs.

She claimed the pants she was wearing belonged to someone else.

Cops responded by calling Amanda Nicole Johnson, 46, a liar, liar pants on fire — and arrested her.

Johnson was found slumped over in a Ford F-150 pickup truck in front of a gas pump at TJ’s Food Mart in Sweetwater, asleep with a cigarette in her hand, according to the Advocate and Democrat of Madisonville.

After the officer woke her up and asked her to exit the vehicle, they noticed a small bulge in the coin pocket of her jeans, which turned out to be a small baggie containing what they believed to be methamphetamine.

Johnson claimed the pants weren’t hers — although she had been wearing them during her 12-hour shift at work.

Despite the in-question provenance of the trousers, she was arrested for possession and booked into the Monroe County jail.

She was released the next day after posting $5,000 bond, according to the outlet.

Defiant Netanyahu refuses to pull troops out of Lebanon

A defiant Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that his troops will not withdraw from southern Lebanon despite the US-Iran peace deal demanding the Jewish state do so.

Netanyahu insisted that the Israel Defense Forces must remain in southern Lebanon to fight Hezbollah, with the IDF publishing a new map showing an expanded zone of occupation that may threaten the peace deal.

“We will restore security and prosperity to northern towns,” Netanyahu told reporters. “That requires maintaining the security zone in southern Lebanon.”

“It requires that we not leave there, as long as Israel’s security needs require it,” he added.

The new map of the IDF’s operations shows Israel’s forces deployed more than 6 miles across the border, including sections north of the Litani River.

“IDF forces have established themselves in their area of operations in southern Lebanon and continue to operate to remove threats and improve protection for residents of the north,” the military said in a statement.

Israel is currently engaged in “stubborn negotiations” with the US regarding its military action in Lebanon and expanded occupation, sources close to Netanyahu told Reuters.

The IDF’s actions stand in opposition to the terms laid out in the US-Iran memorandum of understanding that President Trump signed yesterday.

The deal states that both the US and Iran, along with their allies, would respect Lebanon’s territory and sovereignty, as well end all hostilities in the country.

Iranian officials have reiterated that a failure to end the fighting and Israeli presence in Lebanon would be a violation of the cease-fire and kill the peace deal.

The terms have caused friction between Trump and Netanyahu as Israel and Hezbollah continue to trade blows in southern Lebanon, with the Iran-backed terror group firing explosive drones that killed and injured troops earlier this week.

Cause of Titan submersible implosion that killed five revealed in damning final report

Company failures, design flaws and inadequate regulatory oversight were to blame for the deadly 2023 Titan submersible disaster that killed all five passengers on board, according to the final report on the incident released by the Transportation Safety Board of Canada.

“The investigation determined that the as-built properties of the Titan’s carbon fibre cylinder were never validated to ensure they met the theoretical values used in the design process and that the construction and testing of the Titan did not follow standard engineering practices,” the agency concluded in its 136-page report.

It wrote that OceanGate, the US-based company leading the doomed expedition to the Titanic wreckage, didn’t fully grasp the extent of the danger the craft posed to passengers, and was blinded by “groupthink” and “confirmation bias.”

Agency inspectors examined unused pieces of the same material the Titan was made from and found fundamental structural defects that left it subject to compromised structural integrity, according to the report.

Although OceanGate tested the craft at an equivalent depth to that of the Titanic wreckage — approximately 12,500 feet — the report found it failed to test the impact on the vessel after facing the punishing forces of multiple voyages.

“The as-built properties of the Titan’s carbon fibre cylinder were never validated to ensure they met the theoretical values used in the design process, and the construction and testing of the Titan did not follow standard engineering practices,” TSB wrote.

“As a result, OceanGate did not know for how long the Titan’s pressure hull would remain structurally intact when used repeatedly for dives to the depth of the Titanic.”

British adventurer Hamish Harding was also killed in the implosion. Facebook/Hamish Harding

TSB Canada’s findings echo a National Transportation Safety Board report on the disaster released in October, which concluded that the faulty engineering of the Titan “resulted in the construction of a carbon fiber composite pressure vessel that contained multiple anomalies and failed to meet necessary strength and durability requirements.”

The NTSB also stated that OceanGate failed to adequately test the Titan and was unaware of its true durability.

The implosion happened during the Titan’s 88th dive on June 18, 2023, during which it lost contact with its support vessel after two hours and was reported overdue that afternoon.

Ships, planes and rescue equipment were rushed to the scene about 435 miles south of St. John’s, Newfoundland, but after several days without contact it became clear there would be no survivors.

The implosion killed OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush, as well as French underwater explorer Paul-Henri Nargeolet, known as “Mr. Titanic”; British adventurer Hamish Harding; and two members of a prominent Pakistani family, Shahzada Dawood and his son Suleman Dawood, 19.

Christine Dawood, Shahzada’s wife and Suleman’s mother, originally bought two tickets for the Titan voyage for her and her husband, but gave up her ticket so the father and son could take the excursion together.

After the implosion, she went through a lengthy and heartbreaking grieving process, during which even setting eyes on the ocean gave her feelings of despair.

But now she feels “connected” to the ocean, she told The Sun.

“Every time I see the ocean water, I need to dip my feet in and connect with them. I feel that they are now part of the ocean. I don’t feel that the graveyard is where they are,” she shared.

“When the ocean kind of swirls around my feet, it’s just a really good feeling and I feel close with them.”

OceanGate ceased operations in July 2023 after the disaster.

“We again offer our deepest condolences to the families of those who died on June 18, 2023, and to all those impacted by the tragedy,” a company spokesperson told The Post in a statement.

“After the tragedy occurred, the company permanently wound down operations and directed its resources fully towards cooperating with the government investigations such as that completed by Canada’s Transportation Safety Board. We appreciate the professionalism shown by the TSB and the thoroughness of its investigation and final report.”

Gas prices in California dip below $6 amid US-Iran deal

Gas prices in California are finally dipping below the $6 mark amid the Iran-US ceasefire, after President Donald Trump formally signed a temporary agreement with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

As of Thursday, the state’s average price for a gallon of regular gasoline stood at $5.60, down from $6.15 a month ago, according to the American Automobile Association. Prices also appear to be gradually easing, falling from $5.80 just one week ago.

The decline comes a day after President Trump signed a US-Iran memorandum of understanding during a formal dinner at the Palace of Versailles in France. The gathering featured Trump signing the agreement alongside French President Emmanuel Macron and Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

The deal aims to end the three-month conflict and open a 60-day window for nuclear negotiations. It was initially signed electronically earlier in the week but was formally sealed by Trump Wednesday evening in a candlelit event that officials described as a symbolic “key moment in history,” underscoring the administration’s efforts to cement the agreement as talks continue over Iran’s compliance and future concessions.

The diplomatic breakthrough sent shockwaves through global markets. US stocks rebounded sharply, with the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite jumping more than 1% as investors breathed a sigh of relief, the Wall Street Journal reported.

The primary driver behind the falling pump prices is a steep slide in global oil markets. Brent crude futures — the international benchmark — tumbled to trade just a few dollars above their prewar level of roughly $72.50 a barrel, erasing the so-called “war premium” that had inflated energy costs for months.

While Californians may finally be seeing some relief, drivers in the Golden State are still paying significantly more than the national average. The average US gas price currently sits at about $3.90 per gallon.

Fuel prices are higher in California because of a combination of factors, including the nation’s highest state fuel taxes, strict environmental regulations requiring cleaner-burning fuel blends, and a vulnerable supply chain that can be disrupted by reduced in-state refining capacity.

“Look, Joy Behar is way tougher than the Iranians,” he added, “and she and I are best friends now.”

The VP also brushed off President Trump’s Wednesday comment that Vance would take the fall if talks go sideways.

“I think the president was joking, but as he often does,” Vance said.

Gavin Newsom and wife Jennifer Seibel Newsom break cover in Chicago at Obama Library opening

Gov. Gavin Newsom and his wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom were spotted hobnobbing with Democratic royalty in Chicago Thursday morning days after they announced the Tump administration was investigating them.

The Newsoms were seen attending the opening of former President Barack Obama’s Presidential Library, their first public appearance since the bombshell probe was made public.

Newsom was seen chatting it up with everyone from former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro to Oprah Winfrey.

Newsom, a potential 2028 presidential contender, accused President Trump on Monday of directing the US Department of Justice to investigate him, his wife, and other family members as an act of political retaliation as he considers a 2028 run.

A source familiar with the matter told The Post that the Newsom administration is facing multiple investigations, touching on accusations of public corruption that stretch back at least a year concerning the governor and his wife, as well as former and even current staff.

Is Hugh Jackman’s ‘The Death of Robin Hood’ Movie Streaming on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video?

Get ready for some not-so-merry adventures with The Death of Robin Hood, a new dark twist on the legendary anti-hero of English folklore. You won’t see any smiling cartoon foxes in this movie!

Written and directed by Michael Sarnoski (Pig, A Quiet Place: Day One), this is a gritty adaptation of Robin Hood’s Death, an English ballad that dates back to at least the 17th century, possibly even earlier. Hugh Jackman stars as the man in the hood, aka Robin Hood, an archer who spent his youth stealing from the rich and gives to the poor. But now, in his elder years, Robin Hood reflects on his life of crime and his many sins. He has plenty of time to think it over when he finds himself in the care of a mysterious woman (played by Jodie Comer) after a serious injury lays him up.

Also starring Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett, and Noah Jupe, The Death of Robin Hood basically sounds like Logan, but for Robin Hood. It even has Hugh Jackman! If you’re curious about the movie but would rather wait to watch it at home, then read on to find out what we know about when and where The Death of Robin Hood movie will be streaming.

Where to watch The Death of Robin Hood movie:

For now, The Death of Robin Hood will only be available to watch in a movie theater, when it opens in theaters nationwide in the U.S. on Friday, June 19. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. The Death of Robin Hood movie is not yet available to watch online or on streaming.

Is The Death of Robin Hood movie streaming on Netflix?

The Death of Robin Hood is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix in the U.S. any time soon, due to the fact that the film is being released by A24 in the U.S., and the 2023 deal between A24 and Warner Bros. Discovery, brings all A24’s previous and upcoming theatrical releases to the Warner Bros. streaming service HBO Max. If you want to watch The Death of Robin Hood at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on HBO Max.

If you’re new to HBO Max, you can sign up for as low as $10.99/month with ads, but an ad-free subscription will cost $18.49/month.

Right now, HBO Max is offering up to 40% off annual plans. Regularly priced at $109.99/year or higher, right now, you can get 12 months for as low as $78.99/year.

If you want to stream even more and save a few bucks a month while you’re at it, we recommend subscribing to one of the discounted Disney+ Bundles with Hulu and HBO Max. With ads, the bundle costs $19.99/month and without ads, $32.99/month.

When will The Death of Robin Hood movie be streaming on HBO Max?

You might see The Death of Robin Hood movie streaming on HBO Max around October 2026.

The Death of Robin Hood is not yet streaming on HBO Max. Right now, the movie is only in theaters. That said, we do expect to see The Death of Robin Hood streaming on HBO Max eventually—thanks to the A24 and Warner Bros. deal—but we’re not sure when.

The A24 deal is a “Pay-1 deal,” which means A24 movies will start streaming on Max in the “Pay 1 window,” meaning that Max will be the first “TV channel” to pay for the rights The Death of Robin Hood, after the film has been released on digital and home media. One recent A24 title, The Moment began streaming on HBO Max about four months after its release in theater.

If The Death of Robin Hood follows a similar release strategy, you might see The Death of Robin Hood on digital in about a month, around July 2026, and streaming on HBO Max in about four months, around October 2026.

This is all speculation. The A24 digital and streaming releases have varied by title. If you want to watch The Death of Robin Hood right away, you can catch the movie everywhere in U.S. theaters on Friday.
