On the occasion of its 51st Foundation Day, the Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR), Kozhikode, signed technology licensing agreements with organisations to promote the wider adoption of institute-developed spice varieties and value-added technologies among farmers and other stakeholders.
The institute has licensed the State Kudumbashree Mission to multiply and disseminate improved varieties of black pepper, turmeric, ginger, cardamom and cinnamon, along with four value-added technologies developed by ICAR-IISR. A separate licensing agreement has also been signed with the Gramin Multi State Agro Cooperative Society Limited for the multiplication and dissemination of the IISR Chandra black pepper variety among spice growers.
Delivering the Foundation Day address, executive director of the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology Jayaraj U. Kidav highlighted the importance of integrating emerging technologies into agriculture to enhance productivity and sustainability. R. Dinesh, director, IISR, presented the institute’s achievements and outlined its future research priorities.
