After a successful appearance in the 2025 Superman movie, rising start Milly Alcock is back in her knee-high red boots in her very own movie, Supergirl (2026), which opens in theaters this weekend.
Directed by Craig Gillepsie (known for films like Lars and the Real Girl, I Tonya, Cruellla), with a screenplay written by Ana Nogueira, this new Supergirl movie is the next entry in this new phase of the DC Extended Universe. Gritty realism is out, and brightly-lit humor is in!
Alcock stars in the film as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, who turns 23 and celebrates her big day by flying around the galaxy with her beloved dog Krypto. But when she meets a fellow young woman named Ruthye Marye Knoll (played by Eve Ridley), she gets caught up in a quest for revenge.
Also starring Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, David Corenswet, and Jason Momoa, Supergirl hopes to be the big superhero summer blockbuster of 2026. Where to watch the Supergirl 2026 movie:
Right now, the new Supergirl movie is only available to watch in a movie theater when it opens in theaters on Friday, June 26. You can find a showing near you via Fandango. However, we do expect the new Supergirl movie to be on streaming eventually.
Is the new Supergirl movie streaming on Netflix?
Supergirl is not streaming on Netflix and likely will not be on Netflix any time soon, due to the fact that the film is a Warner Bros. release, will have a streaming home on the Warner Bros.-owned streaming service, HBO Max. If you want to watch the new Supergirl movie at home, you’ll have to wait for the film to be available to buy or rent on digital platforms, or wait for it to stream on HBO Max.

All the new WB theatrical movies end up streaming on HBO Max, though the wait period has varied by title. Wuthering Heights, for example, was released on PVOD about a month-and-a-half after opening in theaters, and began streaming on HBO Max about two-and-a-half months after it was released in theaters. If Supergirl follows a similar release pattern, you may see Supergirl on digital around August 2026, and streaming on HBO Max around September 2026.
But that’s pure speculation. The Warner Bros. home releases have varied by title. If you want to see Supergirl right away, your best is to catch the movie in theaters.
