Ashirwad Hospital organised a free health camp for journalists of the Karnataka Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ) in Yadgir on Sunday as part of Doctor’s Day celebrations.
Chief and senior physician of the hospital C.M. Patil, who examined each journalist personally, said that journalists must give more preference to keeping themselves in good health and fit.
“Journalists carry out their duty with a public service motto and at times, even under acute pressure. Therefore, they need to keep themselves healthy,” he said.
Dr. Patil advised them to follow a diet and do physical activities like walking and Yoga every day to keep their bodies active and improve physical and mental health.
Asserting that journalists can change society by creating awareness about ill will, he said that Ashirwad Hospital is always ready to extend a helping hand to journalists in social service.
Chief of Drishti Eye Hospital H. Bheemareddy, who was part of the free health camp, conducted eye tests and advised follow-up for good eye health.
More than 60 journalists underwent health examination. The staff members of the hospital conducted blood tests to ascertain diabetes, ECGs for heart-related diseases, eye tests and X-rays to find out any health complications.
District president of KUWJ Mallappa Sankin said that doctors and journalists are recognised for their selfless service to society.
Dr. Patil’s decision to extend medical help to journalists is a good thing, he said.
