Jumbo damages elephant-proof wall in Aralam

A wild elephant has damaged a section of the elephant-proof wall under construction in Aralam Farm, even as the Forest department has intensified patrolling in neighbouring Ayyankunnu following repeated elephant incursions into human settlements and farmlands.

The elephant-proof wall is being constructed to prevent wild elephants from straying into inhabited areas. Although construction of the affected stretch was completed on June 22, the structure was still undergoing curing when it was damaged, setting back the ongoing mitigation efforts.
