The betting market is buying what the United States Men’s National Team is selling at the 2026 World Cup.

After entering the tournament as a 60/1 long shot, Team USA is down to 33/1 at FanDuel Sportsbook to lift the trophy, putting them in the same range as trendy dark horses like Norway, Morocco, and Colombia, as well as post-hype sleepers Belgium.

The Yanks defeated Australia, 2-0, in their second match to put themselves in a prime position to win Group D.

They pasted Paraguay, 4-1, in their opening tilt.

The Americans have already punched their ticket into the knockout stages, but they could write some history if things go their way in Friday’s nightcap between Turkey and Paraguay.

Team USA has six points from the first two matches and would clinch first place in Group D if Paraguay wins or draws against Turkey on Friday night. If Turkey wins, the Americans would need to avoid defeat against the Crescent-Stars in their final match of Round 1 on June 25 to finish atop the set.

The last time the United States won its group? The inaugural 1930 World Cup in Uruguay.

If the Americans top Group D, they would take on a third-place finisher in the Round of 32, and would stare down a potential tilt with Belgium in the Round of 16. A lot can happen between now and then, and nothing is given in the knockout rounds, but it’s hardly a gauntlet and would provide the Stars & Stripes with an incredible opportunity to get to the quarterfinals at a World Cup for the first time since 2002.

In addition to serving up an easier path in terms of opponents, winning the group would also keep the Americans on the West Coast, easing the travel burden on the team. Their path would take them to San Francisco for the Round of 32, back to Seattle for the Round of 16, and then Los Angeles for the quarterfinals.
