Three persons have been taken into custody after around 20 unidentified men allegedly attacked a housewarming ceremony in Devender Nagar Colony under the Medipally police station limits on Saturday night, June 27, injuring several people and damaging vehicles and property.
Police said those taken into custody include Sai Kumar and two others. According to investigators, the attack was triggered after a member of the family allegedly scolded the group earlier, following which they returned to retaliate by vandalising the premises.
The assailants allegedly entered the house armed with sticks and stones and attacked guests attending the function, including women, children and elderly persons. Several relatives sustained injuries after being hit with stones, with some reported to be in critical condition.
During the incident, five cars, three motorcycles, household articles and decorations were damaged.
On receiving information, the Medipally police rushed to the spot, shifted the injured to hospital and secured the area.
