Two habitual offenders involved in a motorcycle theft case were arrested by the Attapur police, leading to the recovery of five two-wheelers from Shivarampally earlier this month.

The accused were identified as Mohammad Shahnawaz alias Shanu, 18, and Mohd. Moiz Mohiuddin, 18. Two other accused, identified as Noor and Farhan, are absconding.

According to the police, the case relates to the theft of a Royal Enfield motorcycle parked near pillar number 295 at Shivarampally during the early hours of June 25.

Investigators said the complainant, K. Narasimha, had parked the motorcycle outside his restaurant at around 2 a.m. before leaving the area. The accused noticed the unattended vehicle and stole it.

During the investigation, police arrested the two accused and based on their confession recovered the stolen bike along with four other stolen two-wheelers. Two of the recovered vehicles were linked to theft cases registered at Begum Bazar and Mailardevpally police stations.

Police said the accused were habitual offenders and that two of them had previously been involved in an attempt to murder case registered at Balapur police station, in which they were arrested, remanded to judicial custody and later released on bail.

A case has been registered and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the two absconding accused.
