Rashtriya Janata Dal party chief Lalu Prasad, and his younger son and Leader of Opposition in Bihar State Assembly, Tejashwi Prasad, slammed the National Democratic Alliance government in the State and the Centre, asserting that “they have been fighting” the BJP-RSS and would “continue to fight against them till their last breath”.
The two leaders were addressing party workers and supporters at the party headquarters in Patna on the occasion of the 30th Foundation Day event on Wednesday (July 1, 2026).
RJD was founded by Mr. Prasad on July 5, 1997; Foundation Day events would continue for the next four days across the State to “strengthen party and its organisation at the district and booth level as well”, said Mr. Yadav.
“RJD’s identity has been politics of struggle. We’ve fought and will keep fighting,” Mr. Prasad said while appealing to party leaders, workers and supporters to be “united while forgetting internal differences to strengthen the party up to booth level”.
Adding to this father’s remarks, the party’s working president said, “Lalu Prasad is not just a name but an ideology as he never ever has compromised with his ideology to fight for the poor, backwards and oppressed class of people.”
He went on to add, “I’ll keep fighting against BJP and RSS till my last breath. Power doesn’t [stay] with someone all the time. Time changes and even today, RJD is the biggest political party of the State and organisational strength is our biggest asset.”
Speaking of the BJP-led NDA governments, Mr. Yadav further alleged, “Bihar government is being run by remote control from Delhi. The treasury of the State is empty and there is no money to pay for the salary of government employees and development and it is because of dishonest officers. Corruption is rampant in the State.”
“Today, it has become fashion that whoever abuses Lalu Prasad, BJP will promote them. Today those people whom Lalu Prasad had made Ministers and MPs in his political life, are criticising him,” he said.
While referring to recent incidents of the use of bulldozers in anti-encroachment drives across the State, Mr. Yadav said, “Poor people’s homes are being bulldozed today and the government is doing all this to divert attention of people from real problems.”
On the issue of corruption, security cover and official residence being withdrawn from his parents, Mr. Yadav said that they “do not need security but people’s trust”. “The other leaders like Chirag Paswan, Jitan Ram Manjhi, Upendra Kushwaha families too have got official residences and even those who are not even entitled, too have got government residences. If my parents have been Chief Ministers of the State and were also on other constitutional posts, then they too would get government residences as per rules and regulations. Why is there politics on it,” he questioned.
He also accused the NDA government of “protecting big Ministers and officials in recent corruption cases of the State”.
Mr. Yadav further appealed to the party workers and leaders to strengthen the party down to the booth-level. “Elections cannot be won only because of assembly of crowd but party organisation should be strengthened even at the booth-level. Only Tejashwi Yadav cannot do anything; every party leader and worker has to labour hard; only then will the government be formed and all party workers will get the due respect. For this, discipline and patience are required,” he said.
